Xonar STX + Headphone 200 $ - Improvement from my Solo HD

Hi, I've been looking around for new headphones as I've been using "Beats by Dre Solo HD". I listen to hip hop, pop, classical/filmscores, soul. Well I listen to mostly everything except hard rock and dubstep.

Since I´ve bought these headphones I keep hearing that they are ****ty for it's price and that "BOSE" are way better. I did my research and it does not seem to me like "Bose OE" are not even in my top 10 replacer list for my headphone.

"Beyerdynamic DT770 250 ohm" has been on my list, but I keep hearing that those are to powerful for "Xonar STX" or that they are only made for oriental musik and what not.

I have no plans to get an new amp right now so I want something that are better then my Solo HD and worth its price, as I keep hearing that they are so ****ty compared to everything else.

I am very picky when it comes to sound and I admit that Solo HD only works for Hip Hop and they are very uncomfortable. I will only use it at my computer at home.

So which Headphone(Open will do fine) would you buy if you had a XONAR STX and were not suppose to buy an amp for near future.

To my tastes i would use the hfi 580.

easy to drive, nice punchy bass, not the best comfort, not the worst comfort.

It is not true that the Xonar STX does not have enough power/voltage to drive it. It may or may not have good "synergy" with this headphone (which is also a matter of personal preferences), but from a strictly technical point of view, this combination should work fine. I am not sure about oriental music, but to describe the sound of the DT770 in short, it has a somewhat U or V shaped frequency response with powerful deep bass, and sharp treble, but it also has recessed upper mids around 3 kHz (the most noticeable problem without equalization, it can make vocals sound muffled or nasal), somewhat recessed upper bass, and generally not very even frequency response. If you do not mind leakage and lack of isolation, you may also consider the DT990 instead for a smoother but still U-shaped frequency response with good sound stage (the emphasis is more on the mid-bass here, rather than sub-bass), or the DT880 for a balanced and close to neutral sound.
