Favorite Prog-Rock/Metal of the past 10 years?

Until only recently, I have found some great prog bands that have only come to market in the past 10 years, if not more recently than that. Some of my faves (all happen to be Australian):

Karnivool (borders on prog-metal)

Cog (hard, prog-rock)

The Butterfly Effect (prog-rock)

Ive looked up many of my other favorites, but they are all pre-2000 (The Mars Volta, Dredg, Burst, Cave-In, etc.)

Your favorites?

Can't go wrong with Tool.  Lateralus is a beast.

Thanks for the Cog recommendation!

I would have to say Porcupine Tree, but they've been around longer than 10 years.

Agreed, remains my favourite prog-rock album. Porcupine Tree is also good.

Amazing album, but Tool's been around for well over 10 years...

Here are three that I've recently gotten into:

Amplifier -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfNUlY9lyns

Rishloo -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5herNd1r_xc

Young Widows -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBmqB-TQ_IY

Rishloo is not my thing, although I can appreciate their skills.

Young Widows is interesting, sounds like a drone version of Joy Division.

As for Amplifier, the track you provide BLEW ME THE F%$& AWAY.

Seriously, I havent heard music that interesting in a long time. There is a tribal/mediterranean/Middle-eastern flavor going on that I really dig.

This is a great rec; thank you!

BTW-Nepenthe, what album should I start with?

Indeed, but Lateralus was released in 2001, making it (just) within the last 10 years. And I agree, great album.

Isis 'Oceanic' is similarly good.

Botch's 'We are the Romans' also deserves a mention, despite it being released in 2000.

Just over the 10 years for both of them but

Oceansize - prog metal

The Pineapple Thief - anthemic prog

Glad you liked it, I'd start with their second album.

Dream Theater, own almost every album they've made! But I'd say the newest album A Dramatic Turn of Events amazed me the most.

Tool is great also, I'll get more into it some day :)

E: Haha damn, read the title wrong >___< :D So no DT..

Guys-just to clarify (and my bad, I may have not been very clear in the original post)-im looking for bands who have come to market in the past ten years, not albums...

Hence my non-mention of some of the greats like Tool, PT, DT, Opeth, etc.

Nulliverse-ive never heard a Botch song (altho have heard of them for years). Im going to pick up that album.

Amplifier and The Pineapple Thief are both great nominations. If Black Country Communion counts, I might go there...

The Polish Band Riverside - prog rock

Might give Fair to Midland a try as well.
