Looking For Advice From The Pros on Tips To Sell Vintage Audio Equipment

Hello Everyone,

First time poster, but I've been lurking for the past week or so.

I'm looking for advice from others on what might be the best way to sell some vintage audio equipment I have acquired through an estate. The gentleman was obviously an audiophile who had a nice assortment of higher end electronics from what appear to be the 80's. The lot consists of everything from tuners to CD players to FM Stereo transmitter to what appear to be vintage parts in unopened boxes.

I recognized many of the names such as Marantz, Technics, and Harman Kardan, but never heard of Audio Alchemy, Magnum Dynalab, PS Audio, and Njoe Tjoeb until I started researching this stuff.

That's how I found this site.  I figured it's always worth a shot to pick others brains in the industry who might have different ideas of how to get this stuff out in the marketplace. I obviously know eBay, which I have bought and sold on before....but I have no idea how niche audio equipment might fare there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Some top brand names there. You may want to check out Audiokarma.com they deal in alot of audiophile type equipment. I believe they also have a blue book type service but I think you must join to get that. Post your stuff in the for sale forums here but I do believe there is a minimum number of posts you must have before you can post there. Good luck and do you have any power amps?

Perhaps some pictures? These are all very good brands, and may fetch a pretty penny. Alternatively, you could build a speaker rig for yourself with these amps.

Thanks for the responses so far...

cifani090 - not sure what you're asking when you refer to pieces?

tjohnusa - it's hard not to sound like an idiot when you have little knowledge of component systems. I do have a Harman Kardan PM 645 Stereo Amplifier. I assume power supplies and tuners are different animals? I'll be checking out the audiokarma site today or tomorrow.

Dissonant - I'm attaching a few pictures of a lot of the stuff. I don't have the desire to put together a setup for myself. I'm more of a musician than a budding audiophile. And not a very accomplished one at that! Nor do my photography skills shine...

Needless to say, this guy had quite a stash of stuff. Most of the boxed components are simply units that have been kept that way. The Ultra Di and the Audio Alchemy DTi Plus boxes contain what appear to be brand new merchandise. The Realistic 12 band equalizer has factory seals on it. Unfortunately, the remotes for everything seem to be missing. .

I was wondering if you knew the model numbers and stuff like that on what you have. All of this is mostly 1980's and 90's, not really considered vintage. I dont know how you got all of this stuff, but this is a lot of audio gear. Congrats!

Doing more research, I also ended up with several interesting audiophile LP albums (pink noise, samplers, etc). I could stock a small store with all  this stuff. From what I've gathered, I'll most likely end up using eBay.

As for the vintage tag....I'm really clueless as to how old it needs to be to be considered "vintage". Didn't really know what to call it. Sounded good at the time....
