Hello,
I had been using my nuforce udac coupled with some akg 702 headphones for over a year and was real happy with the result. However, a couple of months ago my udac decided to die out of the blue. I tested it on different computers with different cables and while the computer detected it, I could only hear static when using the headphone output...the coaxial output worked for some reason though.
After nuforce gave me the finger for being about a month out of warranty (even though I never moved the damn thing since I bought it). I decided to look for alternatives and got a creative x-fi hd titanium on sale at best buy for only 80 usd. While the sound of the x-fi is REALLY good... it appears that its not powering the headphones as good as my udac. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a headphone amp either...
So I was bored and decided to plug in my udac after about a month of collecting it dust and what do you know...its working again.
What could've happened? Should I expect it to die again?
I'm just wondering if I should return my x-fi. Are there any good/cheap headphone amps that I could couple with the x-fi to power my akg 702 headphones? on the 120~ price range?
Thanks! looks like a great community around here.
