Use the free Razer Surround software for gaming. Works with any headphone.

people are saying good things on the pro80, just wanted to know if the 5500 had the same soundstage. you can game with close headphones, the CAL! are great for that, heard good things about and KOSS DJ100 (also great value at 40$ but you also have to buy better pads).

Well, my 5500 came. I'm slightly annoyed that it took soooo long, and they are a good bit cheaper with faster shipping now from mp4nation, but them's the breaks.

The headphones themselves are very nice. They remind a little of the UE6000, except with better clarity and improved treble. I like them more than the Logitechs for sure. I paid roughly the same for both (got the UE6000 on the $70 deal).

Considering the UE6000 caught my eye, and was once $199, that says a lot. Awesome.

Ya, especially at $64.50 these are a bargain. They don't displace my current favorite AKG K545, but I think they will make a nice alternate set for when I want more thump.

Better than the S500? Personally I think so. Too much harsh treble on the S500.

I sold my S500 a while ago, but they were my most used headphones for a long time. I didn't find the trebles too harsh, but they weren't very comfortable and the soundstage was very small.

Going off memory I'd say the HD5500 are better in those respects, comfort and soundstage (which still isn't huge, being a closed can, but better), but I'm not sure they have quite as much detail. Maybe that's the missing extra treble that you didn't like on the S500. It's hard to be sure without having them both at the same time for a proper A/B.

Just want to chime in on the HD5500. Just got them and the bass is really good, yet the mids are highs are present enough I find them rather good for EDM. A welcomed addition to my hd600, hd681 and q701.

The fit is comfortable at first, though it will fall off if you tilt your head backwards a little.

Edit: Ears do ache after an hour or so though as the ear cups are kinda small.

I think I've narrowed my choice to the Pro 80's and the HD 6000's. Unsure as to which one to get for mainly House/EDM/Orchestrals (Two Steps from Hell and OSTs of various games) and gaming. Picked both of these for their bass qualities which I am certainly looking for in a pair of headphones.

For me the HD6000 is about $90AUD and the Pro 80's are $55 AUD.

Is there price difference worth it between the two? Also if anyone has had a comparison of these and the Audio Technica ATH-M50 or ATH-ES7 (I own the ES7's and like the fun sound signature) that would be fantastic!

Thanks.

The Pro 80s are supposed to be the Takstar flagship. last time I checked they are a bit more expensive than the HD6000.

so my humble 2 cents would be: for desktop use go for the pro 80 for portability go HD6000.

I own both the HD6000 and Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80).

I like the Gemini (Takstar) better.

What advantages does the Pro 80 have over the HD 6000? I've read in this thread that the 6000 has more bass than the Pro 80 and is similar everywhere else and that on paper seems to fit the styles of music I like. What styles of music do you generally listen to that gives you the opinion that the Pro 80 would be the better overall? Asking out of curiosity as I'm finding it hard to split the differences between the two. Also the Pro 80 has gone up to $69 for me now.

If you will not use it for outdoors,

than I'll would get the pro80;

For me the hd6000 are slightly more attractive in terms of SQ (mainly the bass)

and they are very isolating headphones, but that comes at a price of a little bit more limited soundstage,

and they are less comfy for long term use.

But the diffrence are small, and I would base my decision if you want a dj like headphone or not

Are the HD5500 and HD6000 on-ear or over-ear headphones ? (based on north american heads)
