The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon Thread - Page 71

After reading the entire thread from page 1 to 70, should I go for the Gemini (Pro 80's)? I mostly listen to EDM and today's pop music..

Or would you recommend some other headphone mentioned in this thread?

Takstar HD5500 for EDM. It's brand new, and designed specifically for it. Pro 80 is over 2 years old, and is more neutral.

The Sony 7506 is the standard for Studio headphones at $~77.

I'm still loving my HD5500 over the HD6000, although neither are truly neutral either.

I have a Sony and heard several others, they're definitly not neutral... at all ! And I think every HP will have some flaw in the FR. Thing is that the DT770's had this mids that seem to be all the way at the back of the sound spectrum. A dip at 4k seems less of a problem then absent mids.

The 5500 are open headphones I believe ? The HD6000 looks cool, but really DJ-ish.

Thanks for the reply! But I'm strictly purchasing it on Amazon and I don't see the HD 5500 on there..

EDIT: If I use a NuForce MMP and the Audyssey Music Player on my phone, will it improve the sound for EDM?

HD5500 are closed, and they are actually the DJ headphone.

HD6000 is very good too, but like the Pro 80, some highs need to be tamed a little bit to my ears.

I've never head a bad Takstar headphone yet.

Any decent DAC/AMP will improve sound.

You won't be getting the HD5500 or HD6000 from anywhere but China for the time being.

Aliexpress or Taobao is the best place to get them.

Okay.. :(

But will the Pro80 be sufficient enough or will it give me buyer's remorse?

Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80), buyers remorse for $50 headphones.....LOL.

If you put a Sony label on the HSR-1000, they would easily sell for over $100.

Has anyone ever compared a Pro 80 directly to a Beyerdynamic DT770 in sound signature ? Are there resemblances ? I've read the complete thread but I don't think it's mentioned anywhere.

I would say the DT770s are a little better then the Pro 80s, but you have to have a decent headphone amplifier to bring out the DT770s best.

Do you have a headphone amplifier?

No I don't and I allready had a DT770 pro which I sold because of the recessed mids. I needed a balanced sound and the DT770 didn't seem balanced to me.

But if you say "a little better" it means a lot, with the Pro 80 being 1/3rd of the price.

"I've never head a bad Takstar headphone yet."

I've got some dj rebrand of ts-600 (or 610) for 30$, and it is not really good,

actually it is very, very dark (what is funny it is simultanously not muddy, and is not bass bloated, however the bass guitars are heard more than neccessary, yet still there is no low strong-impact bass), and for example in metal everything (guitars, bass, drums, vocals) blends in into one mess.

and on the other hand is has some strong bumps in higher mids, so for example tom toms/kicks have this very aggresive edge to them (the sound which they produce which is not bass is very noticable), and some sounds (like higher notes on the piano) do something like resonation, and this headphone is on the edge of producing siblants.

But the year of production is something like 2006 (or 2007), so actually takstar made a greate progress with its headphones

To my ears Pro80 does not have recessed mids, like dt770..

the DT770 LE is also something worth to look into..

Pro 80 mids are def not recessed. The HD6000 has recessed mids.
