They also miss a bit of attack in the music the alphas have.  Still, absolutely fantastic value for money!
I would invest in a o2/odac stack. Very neutral and drives most phones just fine. It'll help you decide more easily what kind of sound you're looking for!
If you're in the states massdrop has a drop for the odac right now

Hi thanks a lot for the very valuable advice.  Clearly i got too excited about the 2050 performance.

And i read great things about the O2 unit as well.  I will look for it.

Kind regards,  gino

I started by sealing the cups. It improved the sound a lot. But lately I find the bass to be a little too boomy so I think that I'll have to retune them even further.

Don't! The 2050 performes very good. But I'm comparing it to something 20 times more expensive. Think of it as the original Golf GTI, it wasn't going to beat a Ferrari but it was damn good for the money!

Also keep in mind the o2 is nothing without a good dac, if you feed it garbage you'll get garbage. Hence the recommendation for the odac

Well you are right. Checked the Takstar homepage and couldn't find the Pro 80's and the Hi 2050's.

They probably sold the rights to exclusively make them for Kingston for the HyperX Cloud.

I wouldn't be surprised at all.

That would be bad, in some places the Cloud is not so cheap, and the Pro 80 end up as a better option, there's even some dudes on aliexpress that sell it without the box for 50 bucks...

Maybe they will release a new version with removable cable?! That would be awesome!

Hi and thanks a lot again.  But i am not sure that the comparison is completely right.

I remember an old thread that i cannot find anymore where someone was stating that the drivers in the very good Grado HPs were cheap parts from China.

I am sure of the very high quality of the Grado sound ... i have an old pair of sr200 myself.  What i mean is that the clever use of very cheap but good parts can do wonders.

You cannot build a Ferrari cheap i think. It could be that the drivers used in the 2050 have very high performance in general but not used at their max potential maybe.

I have already some dacs to try.  What i think is the best one is an apogee rosetta 200.  But it has xlr outs so it needs an amp with those inputs.

I would like to use this because i read great things from professional.  Very clean and silent. And transparent.

So i would be more interested in an amp with xlr inputs.

Thanks again,   gino

Not everything from China is cheap rubbish. See Hifiman for instance. Also, I can recommend the spl phonitor mini for a good amp with xlr inputs

Thanks again and exactly my point.

But also the clever use of the parts is important.  For instance i like the Grado concept immensely.  It is both simple and high performance.

I like very much the brand and read great reviews. A little on the expensive side for my budget.

Advice recorded anyway.

Thanks a lot again,  gino
