The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread - Page 162

close back headphones can be really good for gaming, the CAL! are highly recommended close back headphone for gaming. also imaging is more important then soundstage.

Sadly finding good FPS games is not as easy as it used to be...I can try with BF4 and maybe black ops 2 (if i can find players). name games and if I own them I will try them with the pro 80. also trying out TITANFALL, time to use the two free days...

I am using the pro 80 with HM5 velour pads and without virtual surround.

I use the Pro 80s for gaming. They are great for the purpose. Positioning is above par and you get a good sense of emersion. As a matter of fact, I was just playing Alien Isolation last night and was completely Schiiting my pants. You can tell exactly where the alien is in the vents around you without even using the motion scanner.

Though I'm not going to say that they're are better than open headphones, like my Goldring DR150. Open cans give you a better imaging width and depth but because they're open you don't get the same sense of emersion you do with closed cans. Also, I had 3 kids and I would much rather not get distracted by outside noise. So to me the Pro 80s are the perfect gaming companion.

In addition, for PC gaming, it is an absolute must to get some sort of 7.1 emulation software. I use Razer Surround Pro.

RAZER EQ is just so bad...and removing it is also way to hard (had to also fix REALTEK drivers because RAZER software broke them). I don't think VS is a must but it is nice.

so BLOPS 2 stutters like crazy...hard to test sound cues when the game is running like ****. I will try again later.

BF4 still very unstable (crashed 3 times), also the sound in this game is a huge step back after BF3...someone ran me over with a tank and I didn't hear him coming (didn't hear a vehicle at all).

TITANFALL is nice but not a good test for sound cues, too chaotic.

downloading CS:GO...last chance for "new" FPS games. at list until UT.

I can tell you DOTA 2 sound really nice with the pro 80, same for some single player games i played. but you don't focus on positioning in SP games and DOTA 2 is less sound dependent then FPS games.

That's really weird. I've not yet had any issues with Razer Surround at all. Even had to reinstall it once for an update and it went as simple as any other software, just need to restart in between. And Im running Windows 8.1. I use it when playing games and watching movies and it makes the experience that much better.

Though listening to music is a different story. I much rather it turned off as it makes bass unnatural and the instruments sounds a bit weird sometimes.

I don't know, my sound card driver crashed and the EQ didn't work. only removing both the driver and the razer surround software solved the problem. RAZER EQ is all bass, mids are dead and highs are underpowered.

give BF4 more time and played CS:GO, when BF4 works sound cues are very usable but the game can't handle all the noises in big servers. CS:GO had good sound cues, I was able to position players around me and hear steps clearly. probably the best FPS games out of the 4 I played but still not as good as it should be.

Sorry to crash the gaming talk but I just wanted to report that Trakstar hi2050 with velour pads is soo awesome tied with an ibasso dx90. And thinking I bought this for 22.30 usd, it immediately rises up in my eyes..

Will try it out with my Beresford Gatorized. Given 5w power, Trakstar must shine like diamond smily_headphones1.gif

The next upgrade is to drop a pair of AT Ad2000 drivers into it for $100ish.

Listening Blues Brothers is soo joyful experience man smily_headphones1.gif How could have I missed that gem before? As for upgrade I am not that nimble handed to perform such.
Funny is, I had used Soundmagic hp200 and Fischer Audio fa011 before (first one with 200usd tag, the other one was around 150) but never I got this level of YEAH! Even my beloved Soundmagic hp100 or greatly revered Magister can't get that close.

Will try Beresford Gatorized and Fiio e11k+dx90 options tonight.
