The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread - Page 13

This thread convinced me too :)

Just ordered a Takstar HI2050 from Aliexpress and I am now looking for a decent amp to drive it. I am quite tempted to get this one when I travel:

http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/616632414-BlacK-HiFi-Portable-Rechargeable-Tube-value-vacuum-headphone-amplifier-amp-Li-battery-wholesalers.html

And maybe the one below for home:

http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/495357791-Freeshipping-Little-Dot-MK-II-MK2-MKII-Tube-Headphone-Amplifier-pre-Quality-guarantee-100-Grinding-and-wholesalers.html

Any suggestion about amps for the HI2050, with a budget of ~$100 ? I do enjoy bass, listening to a lot of hip hop, jazz, ska, reggae and some psychedelic rock from the 70's

Thanks !

Yeah, I got a 2050 on the way from aliexpress. The 671 is honkin' huge and the 2050 looks too much like DT 880 to pass up.

Got my Technical Pro version of the 2050's. First impression of sound is very good. I think the bass impact is very good for open phones, and the soundstage is enjoyable. A little sibilant, which hopefully will improve with burn-in.

They're not as comfortable as I expected. With the size of my noggin I have to extend them as far as they go. Not bad, but they looked cushier than they feel. Also, they leak sound, which I expected, but it seems to be even more than my AD700's. Still, for $45-50 these are a bargain!

I'll post a review after testing with different sources.

Hi,

Any more impressions on the 671's and how they compare to the 2050's when listening to music?

I have the SR325is, AD700, Senns 215HD, Superlux 662f, HA-RX700 already and Brainwavz HM5 and FA-011 in order (both out of stock at the moment). Looking to get the one of these Takstars that are the best compliment to mine existing collection.

Thanks

Peter

Maybe the Takstar Pro 80 (ones that i do not have).

I'm guessing with the FA-011, you already have something open that sounds good.

I'm not a huge fan of closed cans so maybe I should just not buy them for once.

I'm really curios of how big the soundstage is on the 671's (I'm a sucker for large soundstage)  but if you think it's not significantly bigger than on the FA-011 it's probably not bigger then the AD700 either.

I'm sure there will be another one I just NEED to have in a week or twobiggrin.gif

Thanks

Peter

I vote for the FA-011 because they seem to be good all around headphones and have a fair amount of bass.

But I'm only going by what others have said.

Sounds good. Then I'll wait for the FA-011 before I jump on something else.

Thanks

I can only further confirm this thread - After a DT 880 Pro listening test, the takstar, for all of it's flaws, remains my sonic favourite. Although i like the design of the beyer more, it's undeniable that the takstar's "Wall of Bass plus clarity" approach is one of the best Beyer-esque experiences out there at the lowest price possible. Even the improved mids and less spiky treble cant sway me.

Got the Technical Pro HPT990s today.  Impressive build and sound quality for $50.  Neat case, too.  They're not quite as comfortable as they look (here is one area where they cut corners), but they seem pretty sturdy, and sound quality is decent. Like a previous poster, I had to fully extend them.  Pretty dark, but still decent clarity.  Decent soundstage.  Solid gateway drug for Head-Fi.

Ive had my hpt990s for a few weeks now and initially they sounded decent and was decently comfortable. After a few weeks of use the sound quality is really starting to shine and the velour pads are starting to soften up a big. I mainly use these for gaming and music listening. You can't go wrong with these.

I used mine for about three hours last night.  Nothing but impressed with these.  ESPECIALLY for the price.  Incredible bang for the buck.  They're a little dark, but I can live with minor imperfections at this crushingly low pricepoint, to borrow a Headroom phrase.

To the dt 880, i really like these, they're deeper. the 990 is probably alot closer to the takstar, but I would definetly consider it the superior 'can to the the dt880.

Nice hear you all like them..

These are an amazing bang for the buck, of course you can get better can, but you need to throw a lot of cash to get a decent rise in SQ..

I have a little secret the Pro80 is even better  LOL

They do however have a handicap, they are a bit small and will not fit big heads, medium headsize is OK but if you got a bigger head than that, they will be to small..
