I think that Pioneers Se-A1000 are indeed very good headphones for the price!
Se-A1000 and Hi-2050 are complementary. In my opinion both sound good in their own way.
Pioneer Se-A1000s are really smooth, sweet, forgiving and have bigger soundstage.
Hi-2050s sound somewhat colder but less veiled, have Amazing! detail for the price and pairs really well with the highest quality recordings.
If you like classical music (or not) you should try Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Seiji Ozawa - Boston Symphony Orchestra (TELARC) with your Hi-2050.
Making this sort of claims is not really positive from my point of view. I'm sure most people agree on this headphones having one of the largest soundstages (if not the largest one) at its price point, and also agree that this are really smooth and easy to listen.
Probably you expected them to have a different sound signature. Being less 'veiled' or just more forward sounding. That's your right. But I think, that saying that a headphone X sounds awful, without saying at least what you were expecting from them and in which aspects you consider they have failed, neither the kind of music you listened with them, is useless from my point of view.
