Detachable Cables vs attached / silver detachable cables?

Just got myself a pair of Grados SR80i's and read through threads of the mods, but got a few questions that I couldn't find answers to. (Applies to all other headphones i guess)

 

1.) do you lose quality by making detachable cables vs leaving the cables directly connected? if so, is it significant?

 

2.) If i were to do a silver detachable cables, would the new headphone jack mod need to be silver or higher quaility as well? or will any one work? (i was looking at the one at moon audio http://www.moon-audio.com/diy-audio-parts/other-connectors/detachable-mod-diy-headphone-connectors.html). How does a silver detachable mod compare to a silver attached cable? 

 

 

If someone could answer / point me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated =)

How does a silver detachable mod compare to a silver attached cable? If you decide on silver, you generally want to keep it silver point-to-point. detachable connectors can degrade sound quality if your solder joint is not done right.

Ah ok thanks. any tips /links for the best/proper way the solder joints should be done? Also any places I can get silver headjacks?
