Steak Tartar appreciation

I love steak tartar. The silky smooth texture is unique and in a class of it's own. There is nothing else in nature like it.

Check out these youtube vids of steak tartar. It's so easy to make and don't worry about exact measurements, Personally I Iove to add chopped anchovies and add an extra egg yolk on top of the dish. Also, IMO, it's ok to use a food processor but you have to be careful not to over chop.

Enjoy and Bon Appetit!

I've tried tartar in my school only.. Is it worth cooking in home? ;)

Yes but don't cook it. However, I've never tried cooking it but if you do, it may turn out ok I suppose. In the back of my mind I did think of the idea of cooking a steak tartar and calling it a burger tartar. I don't think this is a new idea. I'm sure people have tried it.

Good to hear. Tartar is so easy to make and the ingredients are so easy to find.  I like eating it with crusty Italian or French bread and with red wine.

For those who don't like the idea of eating raw beef, you can make salmon tartar. Make sure the salmon is very fresh though. I buy my raw salmon from a sushi counter in chunk form at a reputable supermarket. You can substitute tuna too. You gotta love chef Mary. She is my hero.

Yup, Chef Mary is cool. I'm going through her other vids.
