I've been using some cheap Panasonic RP-HT355 (http://www.buy.com/prod/panasonic-rp-ht355-headphone/90125669.html) headphones for a few years now. Only recently have I decided to save up and actually buy some seriously high-quality headphones.
In the meantime, my Panasonic's have died and I'm looking for a relatively cheap (but still better than basic "skull candy" type headphones) replacement until I get something truly great. I mainly listen to metal of all variety (melodeath, black, symphonic, doom etc.)
Right now I've noticed some
Audio-Technica ATHM40FS Precision Studio Headphones on sale ($50-down from $150) at Amazon that look pretty decent. Anyone know if these are any good, for the price and for the genre of music? Or is there perhaps something better for around the same price (or perhaps even slightly more, say up to about $80)?
