Upgrade from Sennheiser HD428?

Hi guys, I was just wondering what would be a viable upgrade from my HD 428s.

Currently I cannot use open back headphones because it would get me kicked out of the library. I want more bass, but I also want to have the feeling of, "full sound" when I play classical music, lil wayne, len, sublime, or deadmau5. I would like an overall better pair of cans, with a larger or equal soundstage, punchy bass, harmonic mid-ranges, and acceptable trebles/vocals. price limit is $300, but I would much rather desire a cheaper pair under 200. I have a large head and ears, obviously over-ear preferred, I've done a fair share of work and have narrowed it down to the HFI-580's, ATH-D2000's, ATH-M50's, and the ATH-PRO700mk2's. I have also looked at the kicker HP541's, DT 770's, and the panasonic RP-HTF600-s headphones. I am somewhat disappointed though as on the FR graphs on headroom, the D2K is the only somewhat flat headphone. What would be the best can?Did I overlook some good pairs for me? Also, where can I download high quality music? Most of mine is 125kb/s :(.

Thanks for the help, any input is appreciated!!!

Also, are there any more good binaural tracks like the virtual barbershop? I thought that was extremely cool!

Im gonna go out on a limb and recomend the HD280Pros, they have good bass, VERY high SPL (which makes bass sound... punchier.) and a relatively clean-cut sound. They sound very good for almost everything, and i use mine quite often.

Heya,

I'd put you on the DT770 PRO with a portable amp like the PA2V2, E11, D-Zero, Digizoid ZO^2, etc. It has excellent isolation and comfort. Does the big sound you'll want for your genres at moderate volumes so that you're not heard in the Library.

Also, ignore frequency response graphs until you've actually heard the headphone, and other headphones. They're more often than not misleading and do not portray what you're going to actually hear.

HDtracks.com is a great place to get very high quality albums. One of my favorite places. Send out links to family/friends for gift cards to that place.

Very best,

Thanks, I appreciate it and will look into the DT770 PRO smily_headphones1.gif. I already have ordered an e10 so that works for me. Will the e10 work just as well as an e11 in terms of getting the most out of the cans, if I order them?
