How was Your 2011 HP Experience? aka.. Holy Moly! Did I ever go overboard.. - Page 2

I started the year with some nice equipment and vague ideas of what to get next. And now I'm ending the year with a totally different (and much nicer) system than I thought I would: an HE-6, a vintage receiver to power it, and a quality DAC for the source. While I've got idle notions of what to do next I don't feel motivated to do anything about it right now; I'm still having a lot of fun with what I've got. The most likely addition to the stable in 2012 will be custom IEMs, since it looks like I'll away from home at least as much next year as I was this year.

Attended two meets in the Detroit area and a mini-meet in Vancouver. Headphone meets are great - you get to see the people behind the avatars, you get to try things you'd only read about, find out what some serious commitment to an end-game system sounds like, and everybody's willing to answer questions and chat. I heartily encourage everybody to attend one. (There's one coming up in 2012 in North Carolina - just sayin'.)

We'll be having a pretty big one in Texas early next year, too.

quite a good journey for me this year. Did not buy much gear other than the following..

Bought:

-reshell my TF10

-Fubar 2 from a guy

-little tube amp 2+ from the same guy

-soundmagic ep 12

-superflux headphone 681F

-tons of CDs.

Plan for next year is to get a HD650 and that shall conclude my hobby till I upgrade again.

Got

Shure SE215 which broke pretty much on arrival (the infamous connector problem), got the faulty set replaced which came back faulty (no bass).  Didn't realise this until it was too late.  This led me onto :-

Klipsch x10i for a goodish price (in the uk anyway)

Triple fi 10 for a good price.

Klipsch image s4 that was a very good price from play (just a shame that royal mail lost them)for a present for someone.

Then got them both reshelled as even the klipsch gave me fit hassles, along with the westone 2's I had, figuring it would save on buying replacement comply tips at the time.

Would have worked out except that I am now awaiting the second refit back and probably won't get them in time for christmas now :( :)

At the moment I'm making do with a pair of klipsch image x1's which are ok.  Keep meaning to get something better as a temp set but nothing out there really tempts me right now so haven't bothered.

Next year my plan is to buy more music and less headphones, honest.  Once the sales (assuming there are any in the uk) are out the way that's it.

Cheers.

Just got into head-fi a few months ago, and so far the damage is: asus xonar essence stx soundcard, denon rcd-m38, schiit asgard headphone amp, audio technica m50 / a900 / w1000x, beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm, sony mdr-xb700 / xb1000, ultrasone pro 2900 w/moon audio black dragon cable and some new rca cables between the pc-denon-asgard.

First thing going forward is to sell off most of the headphones (keeping audio technica w1000x, sony xb700 and/or xb1000), and after that I'd like to find out how the audeze lcd-2 /3, audio technica w3000 / w5000, beyerdynamic t1 and hifiman he500 sounds. And I need a better chair to sit inn while listening to music.
