ex1000 best place to buy? - Page 2

Could you please elaborate how the EX600 cable is better than the EX1000(RK-EX1000lp) cable?  I have been under the impression that the original Ex1000(RK-EX1000LP) cable was designed for the EX1000, and therefore a better sonic pairing. The EX600 cable was boxed with the EX1000 to cut cost.

I'm only basing that off what one guy on here said. Grain of salt. He said he found the EX1000s overly harsh and sibilant with the EX1000 cable but not so with the EX600 cable. Most others have said they heard no difference. I wouldn't mind picking up the EX1000 cable myself just out of curiosity.

Did your EX1000s come with the EX1000 cable or the thinner one like the other member described?  I just want to make sure that I will get an authentic pair from Beach Audio and not a bootleg set.

You're very welcome, my friend. smile.gif Selenium answered your question very accurately, and you've nothing to worry about as far as legitimacy is concerned.

If that were true, I'm sure that Sony would have included the EX1000 cable with the purchase of an EX1000, to ensure the best possible sonic pairing. The fact that Sony instead opted for the EX600 cable to ship with all EX1000's sold within the US leads me to believe that the two cables are indeed one and the same, with the only difference being merely nomenclature.

Thank you for the clarification!

When I said "bootleg" originally, I simply meant an authentic Sony pair (nothing to do with your own personal EX1000s).  I wasn't sure if there are fake sets floating around out there like with some of the Turbine Pro IEMs.

I bought mine from Beach Audio and was really happy with the price and customer service.

highfive2.gif Looking forward to your impressions, my friend!

Beach audio, thenerds.net, ceshowroom.com are not on the list of authorized dealers of Sony. Can someone confirm if they do come with warranty? I am sure they are not fake but they could be B-stock or might not come with warranty.

@wsrox

Have you received your ex1000 yet?

I just got mine from Beach audio. They shipped  it really fast. I do like the sound quality but the fit isnt good and the wires doesn't seem as durable as Shure se535. The case and the ear tips aren't that great either but there is still a decent sound isolation. I will post my impressions on ex1000 and compare it with shure se535 and sm3 v2 later.

Can you check with Sony if they do come with warranty or not? with your serial number i guess..

There is no serial number on the EX1000. They all come with the warranty card in the box. They're replacing mine due to some paint chipping despite not getting them from an authorized dealer.

wsrox, what's wrong with the fit?

That sounds good. Where did you get yours by the way?

I will take that back. After listening for few hours, I think the fit is good. Since I was used to Shure se535 seal, i thought that the seal for ex1000 was somewhat loose but actually its much lighter and comfortable. ex1000 is excellent. sm3 v2=se535 <ex1000
