I guess I'm just addicted to bass....

So I was trying to find some cans with the sound quality of the Triple Fi 10, which i loved but sold because of bass lackage, after weeks of research, it has been presented to me, that I DONT WANT headphones with less bass than the XB500s in this manner, lets say from 1 to 5, the bass in xb500s is a 4.7, i dont want ANYTHING less than a 4...so any help? The xb500s are fun but the quality sometimes, just reminds me they are sub 70$ cans...

I've heard good things bass-wise of the hfi 580, dt 770, audio technica 700 mkII pro...Help me pick?

Forget about the Denon d2000, m50, etc, those are bass light compared to the xb500 :) I simply want some bass and quality, an upgrade you could say from the xb500, a SQ upgrade but withought MUCH bass reduction...

Price range: 150~

Do you want more of an emphasis on sub-bass or bass?

Add the HFI-780's to your list. They deliver good bass.

Um...My music really has a lot of both, but i think bass would win by a little bit more, as in the beats in trance, etc although sub  bass adds a lot of "feeling" and its very very important...here is an example of my music:

Both basses see? http://www38.zippyshare.com/v/53428158/file.html = sub bass @ 0:58 and a kickass starting bassline with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge7YR77jHwQ

Here's some food for thought: http://www.headphone.com/learning-center/build-a-graph.php?graphID[0]=3081&graphID[1]=1153&graphID[2]=1973&graphID[3]=2131&graphType=0&buttonSelection=Compare+Headphones

They don't have the 700 MK II Pro. But the Denon D1100 seems like a possibility, eh?

You might be talking EQ or find the thread about using an actual subwoofer at the same time as your headphones...

When you say "forget the D2000," have you tried them out? I gotta say the D5000 is the greatest thing I've ever experienced in my life, so I just want to make sure you aren't missing out on something potentially glorious.

For that matter, can anyone suggest a bassy headphone that is a clear upgrade from the D5000? I have my eyes on the JVC DX1000 right now, and the LCD-2, and for both headphones, I have heard good things about bass.

pro700mkII.. XB700 are actually quite good if you EQd it.. it has a little more emphasis on the treble and highs compared to xb500, it sounds more 'Hi-Fi'. The DT770/80ohm can also creates an 'earthquake'. both DT770 and XB700 are quite harsh sounding though due to the trebel emphasis

cheers,

I'll reiterate what I've said in your previous threads, not to annoy but point you in the right direction.

Simply put, a headphone with the bass of an XB500 and sound quality of a Triple Fi 10 does not and cannot exist. Big emphasized bass comes from an elevation in frequency range, as a result the mids and highs have to take a back seat. To look at this from another point of view; keep the bass emphasized, now bring up the mids and highs to match the bass; you've got better sounding mids/highs but now your bass is no longer big, standout and emphasized.

You have to make a compromise; you can either EQ a headphone like the Sony XB500 (which I do to surprisingly good results) or choose a different headphone; like the Denon D2000 or Ultrasone HFI-780.

I've been wanting to ask that question forever. Not the jack the thread but does the same also apply to heaphdones with a warm mid hump in their freq response?

Sorry I don't know what you're asking exactly...

I been trying to tell OP this, but he keeps insisting on these bass boosting products that add bass and everything else like voodoo magic. I gave up explaining it to him that when something in the audio spectrum is boosted, something else is taken away.

An extreme example is:

Taking a flat headphone with the best eq-ability, boosting the bass to massive levels, then realizing you want more clarity in the mids and highs. Once you ALSO boost the mids and highs, the sound will become clearer, but the bass will longer be massive. Everything will balance out again in a different level.

Yeah, however marvelous these bass boosting products are all they're doing is acting as an amp with built in predetermined EQ settings. It might be exactly what he's looking for but you still need a decent headphone to pair with the device, therefore I think a cheaper alternative is a bass-heavy headphone like the $50 Sony XB500 and then EQ some of the bass down a notch. You can always take bass away, but adding it usually results in a big drop in SQ.
