Can E9 drive LCD2 well

I ordered a pair of LCD2 and it's on the way. The only amp I have is e7/e9 combo. I read the tag on E9 and it says  Output power: 1W (16ohm); 80mW (600ohm). My friend who owned one lcd told me it should at least be 1W(50ohm), otherwise it can't drive LCD well.

Could anyone give me some suggestions? I really hate if I can't make most use of a good headphone.

While the E9 has a lot of power, the LCD2 has been known to require some serious power to sound their best. Though I've heard the LC2 sounds great even with portable amps, so I highly doubt the E9 would disappoint. I just think if you're gonna spend so much on a headphone, you should pair it up with something closer to what people believe is ample headroom to let the LCD2 shine in terms of power.

I love my E9, but if I had the LCD2, I would definitely invest into something more in it's class. Personally, I'd get a Schiit Lyr for the Orthos.

Thank you very much. I would love to put some good gear together but I have very limited budget, so I can only make sure It works well before making it excellent.

Ya a headfier told me the same, that LCD2 is easy to drive.

You shouldn't have any problems with the E9. I owned the Lyr, and the E9 put up a good fight even with the HE-4, though the HE4 is harder to drive than the LCD2. I would eventually get something better though. smily_headphones1.gif

Thank you very much! I don't really have any opinion about the E9, though I feel good and comfortable with it, but it's the only amp I have so I never compared with other amps.

How much is Lyr? I kept seeing this name from the forum.

The Lyr is $450. It's quite an investment, but if you have the money, it's well worth it. That thing can power a city.

It's very sexy amp, smaller than it seems, and HEAVIER than it seems, lol. Buttons? There aren't any buttons. O_O

I've used the LCD-2s with an E7/E9 before. It's not ideal, but its still quite enjoyable.

Ended up getting an NFB-10SE which really opened them up. It's a noticeable improvement, although in the grand scheme of things, the E9 is probably a good 85-90% there.
