Ideal headphones

What would your ideal headphones be? They can already exist, but they don't have to.

Mine would include:

- A detachable cable

- Closed back

- Not necessarily needing an amp

- Lightweight

- Durable

- Good isolation

- Great sound quality

- Good looking

Lol my ideal headphone would have exactly the same things you mentioned including the ability to be used as a portable and I think the Brainwavz HM5 might fit the bill.

Except for "good looking" (which is a very subjective criterion), you've basically described the Sennheiser HD 25-1.

-Comfortable

-Detachable cable

-Perfectly open or perfectly isolating, depending on user preference

-Does not need a specialized amplifier (and can function portably)

-Really comfortable

-Won't empty your bank account several times over

-Soundstage and imaging so good it's like you're there

-Maximum transparency, clarity, and effortlessness of sound

-Did I mention comfort yet?

I don't think my ideal headphone will ever exist...but for now, I've found something as close as I can realistically expect in the Stax Lambda line.

I like that headphone, but it's not as good looking as some :'( Certainly a fantastic value though. It has a lot of my wants.

The Sennheiser Adidas Originals are pretty good looking. I actually thought my wants better describe the Ultrasone Pro 900.

Not in terms of weight, and possibly not in terms of durability:

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD25-1-II-Closed-Back-Headphones/dp/B000TDZOXG

2.6 pounds vs 5 ounces.

HD 25-1 is industrial grade matte plastic all-round, which either doesn't scratch or doesn't show scratches easily (speaking from personal experience, used to have a pair). Pro 900 has glossy backing to the cups.

5 ounces isn't gonna drag me down to hell smily_headphones1.gif They are said to be pretty durable though. Not as durable as the HD25 cause those are built like a tank, but I'm pretty sure they can hold their own.
