Loose Connection Question

I bought myself a pair of Sennheiser HD 595's along with a Fiio E7 dac.  

Once in a while the sound cuts out of the left side of my headphones.  Moving the wire of the headphones temporarily fixes the problem, but it is becoming quite annoying. 

 

At first I thought it was the E7, so I plugged in a pair of cheap sony headphones, but there was no loose connection.

This led me to believe it was a problem with the HD 595's, but I removed the 1/8 adapter and plugged the 1/4 inch into a dvd player and my left earphone no longer cuts out.

 

Now I'm stumped.  Why am I having this problem?  Do I need to buy a new adapter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
