What do you do when you get a new pair of earbuds/headphones?

Just out of curiosity. DO you immediately start breaking them in for 50 hours before you listen to them? Do you take it out of the box and nearly rip the cord in half because you are so excited? Do you slowly read everything in the box as you gently take them out of the box? Do you put them on, take a deep breath hoping that they sound good, count to 10, then play your favorite song?

I put them in my ears ASAP.

I don't burn them in...I just listen to them, acknowledging that the sound will change throughout the first ~25 hours or so. I don't judge them until I've listened to them for a while. I'm like...not patient enough to burn them in haha.

They go straight into my ears for an initial impression.  I also take that time to find the right tip size and get a feel for them.  Once I'm satisfied with that, after maybe 30 minutes or so, they get the burn-in treatment for 100 hours before I listen to them again.  After that, they get some critical listening time, and after that they get relegated to normal use.

Who even has the patience to wait for burn-in before you put it on?

I usually burn them in for 24 hours, but still listen to them normally within that time. It seems really pointless to ignore headphones during the burn-in if I could be enjoying them, regardless of if they are fully developed or not.

Interesting, I always stick them in my ears, count to ten while I hold my breathe, then play my song of choice, The Unraveling by Rise Against in 320 kbps. I become either dissapointed or extremely satisfied. If I am dissapointed I burn em in using this while I am at school and while I sleep. If it sounds better after like 3 days (about 42 hours) I keep em, if not, I return em. If they sounded good the first time, I do the same process, just without a worry of waking up the next morning, or coming home from school and my headphones still sounding terrible. :D

The only headphones that I've broken in are my Stax SR 404 electrostatics (upon several recommendations). All the others I've just plugged in and enjoyed.
