Got the headphones, got the amp, having trouble with the player

Trying to put together a system for my son for xmas.  So far I have bought a pair of grado sr80i headphones, and a PA2V2 from electric ave.

 

Because of the amp,  do I need to get a player with a line out or can it work with the regular headphone jack?  Any suggestions?

 

Also, any decent portable cd player out there?

 

Any help is greatly welcomed.

A line-out is preferable but for your purpose the headphone-out will do nicely. I hope your son enjoys it.
