1. You should never format in MTP mode. MSC is safer for formating. However...
2. You shouldn't use your PC to format your DAP. unless you can be 110% sure the firmware is 'format-safe'. In the case of RB, it isn't. The safe way to format a DAP is to use the internal format function, if it exists (usually in setting). In the case of RB, I'll recommend a re-installation of RB. Also, never format your MicroSD card via DAP. Take it out and format via an card reader.
