What I was thinking was.  A brushed aluminum or titanium, whatever it is, with a black floating logo of spring and winter (in Hanja, just google it if you really want to know) with either an azure or smoked shell.

The smoked shell is always a good choice, especially with a brushed metal/aluminum face plate. But it's up to your personal tastes really. I think the inlay's are really ugly. If the two different materials were blended together in a design that was more aesthetically pleasing than just stripes.

I was thinking instead of a white shell though of a black smoke or azure.

Clear shells look great, but I wonder if age will eventually "yellow" the clarity a bit (not in the audibles, of course).

I rest my case.

I just couldn't resist.... order placed for the 4.A and the new cable.

Now I'll be able to hear the difference between the 4.A and the 6.A LE. Excited!

It will be good to have an Heir custom that I'm actually comfortable taking out of the house without worrying about it too much.

One of the reasons I really liked the idea of clear shells with a wood cap is because you'd be able to see all the wires and so forth in the headphone, which would offset this rather natural look of the wood. There's a nice duality there that rather appeals to me.

+1

haha, and there you were, just a few weeks ago, saying you had no interest in acquiring the 4.A... wink.gif

It will be great to hear a comparison between the 4 and 6, though.

Yep, I also had no interested in any other sealed headphones, but now I've got an Ultrasone Signature Pro coming my way. I'll probably end up selling my Edition 8, since I honestly never fell in love with it the way some people did.

BTW the pics of my 4.A are already up on the Heir Facebook page. It's the cherry red with Mango Heir logo. I think Sinocelt posted it here already.

No the material Heir uses is anti-yellowing. Thus if you like clear shells go ahead.

I've had clear shells in my old IEMs and I found it boring after few moths. If you're looking for a long term use, be sure that you'll be happy with the look after a year or so.

The Wizard told me the acrylic shells does not yellow but the clear coat he uses does.  Clear shells makes it more apparent so his lightest color shell is light smoke.
