True about the battery life. But I can't fit the rendition one and a DAP into a pocket. I guess the term 'portability' has a much more generous usage among audio enthusiasts.biggrin.gif

PS I believe the Heir 5.0 has a new rival on the market, in the form of the new Shure SE846! Let the battle commence. Anybody own both?

Dude, Shure's are just announced and they are taking preorders. I don't think many people heard them already. I might be wrong too though.

Btw, price difference between 5.0 and SE846 is kinda huge.

People have already tried them. And it is because of the price differential that the comparison will be interesting. I have a feeling the underdog in terms of price may even surpass the Shure.

Correction, 1 person that we know of has tried them...  Jude.  That's it, it's planned to release June 2013...

I have not heard them, but thinking that there are already bunch of iems in that price range, people take it as normal nowadays. If I could afford, I would like to try it out too, I always respect Shure, tried their SRH840 and 940, really liked them. If their fit and comfort was better, instead of using German Maestro GMP 8.35D, I would be using SRH940 right now.

Ps: I am darn happy with me 8.35D, highly recommended. They are literally indestructible and sounds wonderful.

Are you assuming this or did they actually give impressions and pictures?

videos and pics on twitter and somebody mentions it in the se846 thread itself?

That would be the 1 person I stated we know has them (please read my original post)...  Any other examples?

It would make no sense if Jude was the only person to get a pair to demo. I think there are many demo units if you see the entire playlist above.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think that was the stream of the announcement or at a headphone show.  As of right now, we only know there is 1 person with them for sure (not affiliated with Shure).

EDIT: Why are we talking about this?  Back to Heir.

Um... I just merely mentioned wanting to compare it to the 5.0. All I want are impressions, even better would be if somebody who tried them also happen to own the Heir 5.0.

Headphone show people don't count as 'other people'? Your logic baffles me...

I'm curious as to what advantages the tzar range has over the ai's?  As someone who uses the usual likes of the sansa clip plus/ipod classic etc would there be any advantages?  I'm also stuck in a loop over the 3ai or 4ai.  As someone who listens to a load of progressive rock and metal along with audiobooks I'm a little confused over which would be the best choice.  Whilst the 3ai would be the obvious choice it may not be the correct one.  As point of reference I found the westone 3 (not um3x) a little too bassy if that's any use.

Cheers

Does anyone have an opinion on the rendition 1 vs Leckerton 6S MKII apart from battery life and size? The leckerton is substantially cheaper and has a built in dac and has been in development for about 3 generations whereas I heard that the rendition 1 was built by a third party company. What value does the rendition 1 provide knowing that its price is substantially higher?
