yes but heir doesnt low value its products, i have no issue with that as many other competitors dont low value aswell.  i mentioned intl buyers aswell. many countries charge ridiculous taxes on the declared value..aus/nz / just to name a few and it all adds up on the cost. i knew how difficult it was to collect $$ for the 8.A and i hadto get them shipped to HK just to avoid indian taxes and make a friend carry them down. i would get a free 5.0 just by avoiding the indian tax + vat charges. so u know if someone from a country whose tax system is just as ridiculous as mine can save up a good 200/250$ .. that is alot of money to alot of people.  its not a bad deal. .. atleast not something where id post a WTF dog photo for. just sayin...

Just to toss something in....

What is the SN#

I wonder what build number those were, if I had to guess, I'd say within the first lot of 10 that were built. I can also vouch those were built by me 100%, as the first twenty 5.0 IEMs were all built by me.

These are my 5.0

So I pulled the trigger - after coming to this website and only owning a set of IE8's and TF10's based on friends in the broadcasting industry recommendations - I have pulled the trigger and purchased a set of 4A's and 8A's second hand on the For Sale/Trade forum. This place is really bad for your pocketbook. I had already called Heir Audio and am going to meet a representative near my home for free impressions. I think I got a good deal for a grand and the $70 @ pair for simple acrylic CIEM's is another great price.(I can't really spring for too much jewelry on these - and hell. it is all about the sound for me) Heir told be they replace the dampers and wires and tubes and essentially remake them from the ground up. That and a 1year warranty on the units - and I got 2 CIEM's that I have heard nothing but great things about. I am looking forward to listening to these!

Very nice! I believe that the 4.A and 8.A complement each other very nicely.

That's what I was thinking - One to listen to Jazz, orchestral movements, and one for rock, electronic, punk, fun music..... USPS can't get here soon enough.

I am sure it would be nice to have both 8a and 4a.  I think one listen to the 8a may make you forget about the 4a but then again I have not heard the 4a rolleyes.gif.  Gosh are you going to be happy.  As far as dressing them up, you can't see them when they are in your ears and that is where you are going to want them most of the time.  Enjoy.

It's nice to have jewelry on the face-plates though :).

Not to my liking. With the gold it brought more focus to the sound. Treble has more extension yet at the same time is even smoother. Bass has better texture to it and the mids, euphoric, mid-centric even smily_headphones1.gif The presentation is a bit smaller through this cable (more intimate) but I prefer this and it's not by a whole lot in terms of losing sound staging. Just brings things closer in that regards. I also tried a silver cable on it and it just leans things out too much and makes the sound staging too distant. Mids end up taking a back seat. Although you do get more detail overall I don't think it matches the 8As sound. So gold it was smily_headphones1.gif.

I looked on their website but couldn't find the cable. Any hints?

Congrats...I can certainly tell you that the 4.A/8.A combo compliments each other very well and leaves little to be desired (I am however eagerly awaiting a possible future version of the 6.A ...hint hint Wizard!)

Really, having the 8.A doesn't make you forget about the 4.A. As was mentioned, they compliment each other very well and there are things the 4.A does better than the 8.A and vice-versa. Depending on the type of music, source/amp you are using (or no amp), etc etc you have lots of ability to get a real nice thing going either with one or the other CIEM.

Is it possible to request for recessed sockets on 8.A?
