I'm thinking I need to save up for the 8a and get wizard design as well.  Maybe if I convince the wife that we don't need a summer holiday this year...?

Problem is that I also fancy a classic clear shell design for the next set too, not much point having the wizard do that?

Well, day 3 with customs and they still feel weird and a bit uncomfortable.

Not sure if I should give my ears some rest or just try to wear them a lot right now to get used to them more quickly or what.

Still, enjoying the sound quite a bit.

If this is your first time with CIEMs they will feel weird initially, maybe even mild bruised feeling if they are in for hours.
However that mild ache should disappear over a bit of time.

If you're getting pressure points like something digging in, in one or two specific areas, chances are that the fit isn't quite right...but that normally starts to hurt quite quickly once you insert them.

First customs, and I wore them for probably around 5 hours yesterday. Around the deepest part of my ear that they reach feels a little sore, but seems like that's normal.

I would certainly assume that if I had pressure points it would be quite obvious considering how much I've already worn these, so I think I'm good on overall fit.

Those are the new Wizard design to replace my original cr@p idea :D
Love the look of them - really elegant

Wizard did them overnight - unbelievable !

I was going to say if you were having second thoughts about that design you were mad. The Wizard did a fantastically amazing job for you! They look beautiful!

I, too, got news this morning that my 8.A’s have shipped! UPS isn’t telling me an arrival date, yet, though. Also, no pictures, unfortunately. That being said, I care significantly more about getting the headphones in my hands than I do about having someone take pictures to tease me with. I’ve seen Heir’s work and I trust The Wizard to have made something beautiful for me. I will make sure to post plenty of pictures as soon as they arrive.

Ahhhhhhh! I feel like I’m going to explode! This is the worst part. I know they’re done, I know they’re coming, it’s just waiting for the shipment to arrive!

Now I’m really glad I made sure to order some checks for the customs payment. Hope they arrive before my 8.A’s, haha!

Congratulations! The wait is almost over then

I've got my fingers crossed that my set will be done soon as well.

Dr, Moulton

I understand that during the Chinese new year holidays, there won't be any shipping in and out but I was wondering if you guys are still going to be at the labs working on the placed orders during these couple of weeks or are you not allowed to work by some sort of a government rule during the holidays?

I asked this because my impressions are already at Heir's labs but I haven't made the payment yet thanks to my "lovely" car. So if no work until the new year thing is over, I might as well wait until it's over, if that makes any sense.

Hey guys,

I was hoping if someone from Heir Audio can comment on the spalted tamarind wood. Here is a photo of one customer's spalted tamarind.

Before I purchased my 4A, I looked up at what spalted tamarind could look like and I came across something like this.

Both look substantially different. My question to Heir Audio representatives is that are your spalted tamarind wood substantially different or will most of your customers get a wood like the one in the first link? I don't really like how the wood looks like in the first link so that's why I am asking.

Please advise....

Howdy,

A couple of things should be noted here.

A lot of how the way a wood looks is determined by the direction in which it is cut. In the photo that you posted of our product, it was felt that the wood was most interesting when cut in that particular direction or at that angle. This gives the wood character so to speak.

Now, we have only ever procured spalted tamarind once and therefore I can almost assure you that we can get the same look seen in the photo of the CIEM. What I cannot guarantee you is that we can cut the wood in such a way to make it look like the wine stopper. In fact, the wine stopper may not even be made of spalted tamarind. If you are interested in the wood looking like the wine stopper, John can play with the spalted tamarind to see what happens, however the two look so different that I do not think we will be able to achieve that same look and feel with our current spalted tamarind.

Best,

Brannan
