Weird.. In Denmark they just hand you the package with a sticker on it saying that you may need to pay custom taxes. A few days later a bill shows up in your mailbox.

Also, if you're in the US you need a check. They will not accept cash or card because they're not familiar with the 21st century. They probably require it to be faxed at some point, too...

ah... so I guess UPS in the UK was exposed to science sooner than in the US then. They often give you the box within 3 days after dispatching and the bill will come around 5 days later. You can pay either by going to the bank or internet banking. You can even delay the payment up to 2 or 3 weeks before another letter reminding about the unpaid bill comes. Dealing with UPS is a lot more pleasant than Parcel Force. They wont deliver your goods until you pay the charge, not to mention the bill doesn't always come in time.

Both of my CIEMs were handled differently.  When I received my 4.A, I actually got a bill and payed the customs due at a later time.  When my 8.A arrived, I had to run over to 7-11 to get a money order to pay for my customs due (while the UPS driver waited).  I'm not sure why they treated each shipment differently.  BTW, from memory, my customs fees were about $35 and $55, respectively, here in Southern California.

Ultimately, it is there CIEM, the owner may find beuty in glow in the dark blue with pink flowers, with a purple logo....

I live in Las Vegas, so I think I will pay the same amount as yours. Did you pay in cash or check?

Yes you should, but I did not receive one even though my impressions were received and approved.

I ended up calling Brannan and getting confirmation that they were received and sent off to China. Basically, he said they have been very busy receiving impressions and sending out emails for rejected impressions have taken higher priority. If your tracking info says your impressions are at the San Diego office, you should probably just give him a call.

Another amp question, any desktop amp/dacs with a small footprint that have paired well with the 4.A? Was thinking about something like the Pan Am or Nuforce Icon, something I could use in the office or on a bedside table.

I had them shipped to work so I would not get the "sticky note" on the door and have to wait another day.  I paid by check.  I gave our shipping department a heads-up that this was coming and I would need to give the driver a check.  When the UPS driver arrived the shipping department at my work called me.  I went to the dock, gave the UPS driver the check and he gave me the package.  I guess that UPS pays the duty and you are repay-ing UPS since I made the check out to UPS.

When I am listening I forget what they look like.  I am too distracted to think about it.  :-)

The Pan Am does not work very well with low impedance headphones in my opinion. I have the PanAm and the volume on the low setting goes from quiet to deafening in 10% of the dial with the 32ohm Westone 4. I expect the Heir 4.A will be similar. The PanAm is tuned for high impedance full sized cans.

Yes, we try to send at least one, if not two emails to customers to notify them if 1) their impressions have been received and 2) if their impressions have been approved. I am currently out of the San Diego office traveling however so I have been a touch slow on the emails, however impressions are still being received, still being reviewed, and are still being sent to the labs with little delay.
