Is $50~ the amount of customs tax people normally pay when they get customs like the 8A delivered to the US? Or is it higher?
In Canada I'd be lucky if they only taxed $50. When the 8a hits customs they'll probably charge me 13% of the declared value if it's high so 13% of $975 would be $126..

Got the 3.Ai today and I've been listening to it for the past few hours off and on and I'm really liking it.  It has the same sound signature as the T-Peos H-100 but unlike the H-100 Heir does it right with mids that don't sound like there coming from an AM radio.  These are the most transparent and revealing IEM I've had and the perfect amount of bass (they actually have a bit less than I was expecting which I like).  I'll have a review of them in the next few days but so far I'm liking what I'm hearing, oh and the build quality is top notch.

When the Tzar 350 makes it over to you guys, grab this album and listen to track #4 on disk 1, preferably using the Rendition 1 amp...

Prepare to be amazed! biggrin.gif

I'm beginning to think Sorensiim works for Fink......tongue.gif  Ha ha but again YES! Agree!

And I have a personal story about the "Oh Brother" soundtrack that I would like to share....

Back when that movie came out and I saw it I was just STUNNED at the music. Just amazed. So I am going around telling friends and whoever would listen about it and, you know, everybody has their preferences...and everybody I knew was just kind of "ahh..yup yeah that's okay" and basically nobody was that interested.

Well, I had JUST met this great girl - we had just a couple dates. So anyway I go over to her house for the first time and guess what's sitting on the coffee table... "Oh Brother" soundtrack. She was totally into it and right then I knew she was the one....We have been married for almost ten years now.

Oh and by the way she was someone I HADN'T yakked to about that movie yet, so It was really a pure coincidence - not like she "planted" it to impress me. rolleyes.gif Trust me, I'm not someone a girl would try to impress!

Again, Agree! I am loving the 3.Ai! Unfortunately, I think I will need to sell it...Why? because I am ordering the 8.A and something has to go.frown.gif

My 8a's arrived today. Order to receipt: 8/26/2012 - 11/19/2012 (85 days)

Total from fees from UPS (duty and their cut) was $71.00 to South San Francisco on a $1403.00 tab.

Initial impressions:

1. Nicely packaged.

2. Nice storage box.

3. Magnus-1 cable was very flexible and nicely finished.  Much more flexible than the pure silver from Headphone Lounge (ChrisHimself).

4. They went in my ears just like the re-shelled TF-10, maybe a little tighter.  (More to follow)

First song "O-Pato" by Joao Gilberto from 1960.

5. Initial balance between the two sides (right/left) was good.  Good clarity and it appears to be nicely balanced.

Second song "Human on the Inside" by the Pretenders.

6. I felt the bass in my feet! (No lie!!!)  Holy Crap!! Are you kidding me?  No wonder they call him Wizard.

7. I had to take them off and look at them.  The wood looks great, almost mirror images on the right and left, NEAT!

I had no time to listen further today because of work.  I'll send pictures when I can.

I know you've already answered this once, but I forget. When did they actually receive your impressions in Chengdu, and what was the total wait time from that date? Also, 85 days seems very steep. I hope that's not a normal thing. I'd love to have my 4.As before winter break starts, but I'm starting to get discouraged.

CCS: Please note that I changed my order from 4a to 8a on 9/30/12.  My impressions got to China on 9/18/2012, the first set were rejected by HeirUSA.  There was also a one week national holiday in China in there as well.

Okay. So, I can treat it more as if the build began on 9/18, then. That's about nine weeks, minus the one for the holiday. So, an eight week wait from build to delivery. Roughly. Still a touch on the long side, but even if it takes that long for mine, I should have them sometime during winter break, before Christmas shipping screws the whole thing up.

Wait, do you mean that the impressions that arrived at 9/18 were rejected? Or a set that you sent in closer to your actual order time?

Aaagghh I'm tortured. confused_face_2.gif I'm trying to finalize my 8a order and can't decide on shell color. Amboyna with dark smoke or black mamba. Anyone want to post pics of theirs to sway me in one direction? Wizard suggested dark smoke.

I want to send the order so my mind can rest!

CCS: no, the initial set was rejected the first week of September. The ones they used were the ones that arrived on 9/18 in China.

Thegrobe: I have light smoke with buckeye. I like the way mine look but, you can't see them while they are in use. They could be puce with pine and it wouldn't matter. wink.gif
