An amazing single dynamic made of unicorn furs (or another special material) and a truly high-end design by the Wizard would be worth it. He'd be able to find a high-end driver the like of which has never been seen for a hybrid if that's what he wants.

Although, you raise a good point, an Heir audio electrostat ciem would be welcome as well*. For now, however, a top-tier dynamic ciem is a good thing to pester the Wizard about.

While the 8As are really good IEMs the best bass reproduction I have heard comes from a hybrid IEM. Simply put the 8A bass doesn't compare in those terms. It is what it is. Plus dynamic drivers continue to improve including speed. I won't be surprised in the future about dynamics even beating BAs at their own game. So far the best I've heard though is from combining the two into one.

My favorite characteristic about the 8As though is with its treble and how it portrays it in such a silky-smooth way (that draws my attention to it even more so due to this). I love smooth treble :). Plus it is quite mid-centric which is refreshing to me.

There is a good amount of sub bass and quite a bit of mid bass as well. It's not overbearing by any means.  However, I do find that depending on what you pair them with the bass can be overwhelming at times depending on the songs. So I find the 8As to be quite hard to find a proper match, synergy wise. Only the N1 player has left me impressed with this IEM for music . Nothing else has done that (not so impressed on my Triad L3/DACportLX, Studio V, iphone4). Otherwise I find them most suitable for gaming and movies....

Still their presentations are very different so it's quite refreshing to go from one to the other. Although that can also be a bit irritating initially having to get reacclimated to the signatures :P.

OMG!!! I just did an A-B compare with my speaker system (B&W CM7 bi-amped via Yamaha RX-V 3800) and my B&W P5, plugging it in and out while the music was playing.

I knew those are not the best headphones, but with the direct A B comparison it just sounded as if I put in some $5 pods. Really really crappy.

Now waiting for my 8.A to do the same.;) Come on UPS! They should arrive this afternoon.
