lol. I agree. It's totally hypocritical when you get judged on your hobby when in reality their own hobbies are even more wasteful and the return on the investment is near to none.

I usually turn that on it’s head with some variation of: How much do you spend on your computer every few years? Mobile phone? Clothes? Alcohol? How long do you have to enjoy them relative to how much you spent on them? I use my headphones between 3–6 hours each day and I’ll do so for years to come. When you do the maths it’s hardly extravagant.Quote:
OK, when I said “I know” what I should have said was “I expect”. I say this because I consider myself to be an empiricist and understand that past experiences are not necessarily indicative of future ones.
Except in this case. THEY LOOK FANTASTIC!!!

I completely agree with you. What pisses me off is having to even go down that path with people. They should know better but they don't think out of the box for the most part. So I generally just elude away from such conversations to begin with. I don't like being made to feel I have to justify my purchase to anyone period.

My response tends to be "I'm sorry, did I ask you to pay for them?"
or
"I can afford it"
Both tend to end the conversation very quickly

The slight distortion you hear is the sound of jaws hitting tables around you... Damn that wood looks spectacular!
I should ban myself from these threads until my 8.A is done. Watching one phenomenal build after the other while waiting for mine to be done is like standing in a bakery when you're on a diet, just ogling the cakes

I feel the same about the cost of this hobby. I'm pretty frugal in most parts of my life and I still try to make smart purchases related to headphones and such. I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs, so I feel like I can indulge in a nice piece of gear from time to time. I have friends that will drop $100 in one night of drinking, so imagine how that adds up over time.
That being said, my customs were stolen today here in Saigon - I was driving with my wife on her moped and a thief snatched my backpack (with great skill, I should note) and though they were not Heirs (that would be tragic, no?), I was trying to trade them here on head-fi. They were 1964Ears Quads...I don't think I had good impressions because while they didn't hurt, they never felt comfortable or 'disappeared into my ears,' which is why I was trying to trade them...easy come, easy go.
My wife and I were both born in the year of the pig and she says the first month after the lunar new year is supposed to be the worst month for us 'pigs.' If this is the worst of it, than I say I got off pretty easy. Besides that, I lost my cheapo cell phone and my cheapo (but needed) eyeglasses.
My resolution this year is all about acceptance - I'm not going to let this bum me out, feel anger towards the thief, or feel like a victim. I'm going to go with the flow and maintain my serenity even when things don't go my way. Thanks for letting me vent - I'm feeling much more at ease.

Sad to hear that. I just got screwed over at my doctors appointment (tricked more so than anything) and had to pay a $160.00 fine to get my car unlocked from that damn wheel lock they put on my car. They just implemented this new parking rule a couple weeks ago and I don't see this doctor but once a month. Yet they didn't bother to change the "visitor parking" signs. So I feel it was a trap. There was a paid parking sign next to the elevator. But there is also a door just to the left of this elevator which leads to another "paid parking lot". Not sure if I should pursue the matter as I think what they did is illegal and it's purposely set up to trap people into it. I feel in order to implement their new policies they need to change the "Visitor Parking" signs to "Visitor Paid Parking".
Anyways I hope you get better IEMs and enjoy them all the more better. I read your add on the bottom While I don't find it funny that your IEMs were stolen I kinda laughed at the add title. If you read it in the way I did it is like you are selling "stolen 1964 quads" lol :P.

Being p!ssed isn't going to bring back your stuff, it's only going to make your day even worse.

Yeah, it does look like I'm selling stolen goods, eh? It's funny how poorly the mind works when agitated
. Boy, I'm really tempted by the 90s...I don't think I'm going to spring for customs again, but I will fo sho be getting some new unis.

Quote:I doubt anything will happen, but make sure to turn the volume way down before playing anything. I can't recall what the output of the lyr is, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Having proper volume control might be an issue, but it'll most likely be better than with most CIEMs considering how most of those are much more sensitive than the Tzar 90.
