I was never much of a fan of HiSound because of their lead amp designer but with my Tzars the Studio V just might be quite the pocketable gem. It won't beat my DX100 when I'm at my desk, but when it comes to portability and battery life HiSound has the edge.

I agree on the hiss part. But in terms of sound quality they are among the very best in DAPs available. They are also improving upon their products which is promising. I'm actually selling off my RWA AK100 and will keep the Studio V as it still sounds better to me with my 1Plus2s. That is even over the DX100 on this pairing :).

Folks, Heir Audio never really ever shuts down.....   as we have an office in USA, one soon to be one in Japan (a nod to our good freind in Japan) and we are working on more representation in other parts of the world as well.

That said, the lab will be partially open during the CNY as I will be there, and e-mails will still be replied etc. The thing that really shuts production down is shipping, as even if we could produce products all through the CNY, shipping is closed.  So yest, the CNY will impact us, but we are doing all that we can to make it as small of an impact as possible.

Heir use UPS (so they will not play ball) and besides marking down an item means you are taking the risk that an insurance claim will not be required (ignoring you go on HMRC's hit list should they find out). The "markup" merely reflects the customs and courier fee anyway as note they still have to order from China. Presumably in future Heir will be able to ship out ready made units to the UK for sale in the UK, as is the case for USA

I second that. e.g. I know from a friend in Germany that he got his CIEMs directly from the audiologist.

So he just went there, took the impressions, and the audiologist took care of the rest, just like for hearing aids.

Would probably good to cooperate with local audiologists, as other manufacturers do this already.

      No plans for that, and beyond that the IEM would be much more economical as it would be shipped from the USA location, no tax, and lower shipping fees

There doesn't seem to be much discussion of the Tzar 90 on here, lots of 8A and Tzar 350...can anybody sum up the 90 for me? How does it stack up to the 4Ai?

I can't seem to find any reviews of the 90s, so what is their sound signature like and do they need amping from a J3? I know the 350 is very revealing - what's the philosophy behind the 90's sound?

      I can use the Tzar 90 without an amp with the J3, and it will get sufficiently loud, loud enough to damage hearing over a period of time. 

     The philosophy?   Well it is a lot of what the 350 is not.  It isn't "picky" or  as finicky about the recorded music it is much more forgiving than the Tzar 350. Graph wise it looks similar to the ER4, but sound wise it is much more bass capable.  I wanted to offer two high impedance products, one for extreme detail lovers, & I'm talking about the type of drivers that tranduce the thoughts of a flea, coupled with a black background....   that sums up the Tzar 350.  It was inspired due to the AK100 (you can read that thread if you want)  But it seems to me that DAP designers are starting to develop products that can use higher impedance full size cans.   I thought, "Why not use high impedance hi quality IEMs as well, and get the best of both worlds?" 

Any how, the cousin Tzar 90 is suposed to be for those that want a higher impedance product, and deliver a more fun SQ over the Tzar 350.

There will be more comments about the Tzar 90 over time, but I do have faith in the product, and I think it will please many.   I would not offer it if I didn't believe in it.
