Do you guys think the 4ai and the tzar 350 offer the best value for the money for people who like speaker-like and very flat sound? Or do you think that the etymotic er4 or other iems are better in this sense?

My 8.A is sounding better and better everyday. :D I love how the dark violet shell looks purple under some light conditions then reddish in others. I seem to lose seal if I open my mouth to eat something like a sandwhich though. I hope hearing microphonics when chewing, walking, etc. is normal though..

I sent my CIEMs back for a re-shell because of similar experiences Kazenagi....though I'm new to CIEMs, so I don't know if such issues are customary or not. I feel like they could probably just be thickened up a bit with clear nail polish though.

I got a pm from wizard telling me my customs are inserted correctly and I still have perfect seal most of the times except for eating which is normal so I think it's safe to not do a thing and just enjoy my ciems.

Well the side that actually fit felt nice. Compared to universals, they provided better isolation obviously, and they're also much more easily detected. Since universals don't always make contact with the entire surface of my inner ear, I feel like they are less noticeable. Whereas with the customs, I always know they're there.
My problem was that when I moved my jaw, the left monitor would lose seal and let noise in. I used the running water method that others have mentioned here, where you turn the faucet on and move your jaw around to see if the sound creeps in.

I haven’t finalized what I’m doing for my 8.A yet (and I’m still sort of hoping my headphones are found) but It will definitely be in that direction. The first time around I went with a semi-transparent slate that looked nice and clean but I always wished it had a bit more flare to it.
I almost wish Heir did full-body woodies. I think that would be my dream.post #4405 of 73571/8/13 at 7:31pm- FullCircle

I certainly haven't browsed through this thread’s pictures, the Heir Audio Facebook gallery or filled out the form and played with the various options… Nope. I definitely haven’t done that many, many times.
I think I know what I’m going to go for at this point. I’m giving the airline until EOD tomorrow. If they don’t get back to me then I’m placing my order.post #4407 of 73571/8/13 at 11:13pm- sunneebear

Could be done. Desktop 3D scanners and mills are pretty cheap now. Roland has a combined scanner mill for around $3000 that can handle aluminum and brass so hard woods shouldn't be a problem. A solid wood 8.A for around $1800ish sounds reasonable.
