I strongly agree with this
While I'm really satisfied so far with my initial and sporadic use of the 4.A and 8.A, I would never say that I'm at the end of the road in my journey towards sonic nirvana (at least to my ears). I'm now considering the TH-900 as a home/bedside complement to the 8.A (and maybe another high-end can to complement the 4.A), but even then I could never just settle on any one device. I'm sure the Wizard isn't settling with his current creations and has even greater designs in store in the near future.
8.Ai... ![]()
Not without a lot of major advancement. They said a few pages back they couldn't fit everything from the 8.A into a universal.
There will come a day when I upgrade from my 4.A's, but I don't think it will be from something not Heir Audio. Once I find a brand I like I tend to stick pretty close whenever possible. Especially if I like their customer service as well as their products.
I'm still not sure about this... Why is the 8.A demo unit any different from a potential universal? I know it is a bit bigger but I wouldn't see many problems if they just started selling the demo unit for those who want a universal.
Maybe I'm way off.
This is my travel case.
There is also a shorter model that fits just the ipod, no compartment at the bottom.
And after a while we see the subject shifts to another item and the wording remains the same.
this was mentioned a while back
the wizard said the 8a is way too big for a universal, wont be as flush to the ear to their standards
plus of course they want people to pony up a little more $ to get the exclusive 8a
I use that one. It's a tight fit, though, so I've got to place my (big) CIEM just right, which is something of a bother and takes more than a few seconds. On the plus side, after that, with their cable, my CIEM won't move (i.e. bang against each other) inside this tiny box.
On my desk, I prefer a simple Tupperware-style plastic box, big enough to fit my Sansa Clip Zip and a dessicant box, around which I can quickly wind the CIEM's cable:
