I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

If the manufacturer wants to ship the IEMs properly insured, they have to state the fair value, and that's what customs or revenue service will use to assess taxes.
My 4.A also arrived today and I have been wearing it non-stop for about four hours already. More later.

Has anybody's packages from Heir this week included a chart?
Mine didn't. I'm not sure I mind; I would like a chart, but I would rather not have one if it is incorrect. However I'm curious whether anybody else got one.

I didn't get one with my set either. I don't think that many people did.

I don't think any was supposed to be sent out.
Yep, from the very beginning Dr. Moulton told me he had made the choice not to include charts. For various reasons. The few that went out were a mistake.

As already mentioned, they're not supposed to be sent out with a chart for various reasons and the ones that included one were a mistake. I don't think you should mind though, as charts don't always accurately reflect the sound you hear - what you actually hear with your own ears is much more important. Other big companies such as JH don't include a chart with their products either.

I have some serious doubts about their operation.
The charts that I did see had absolutely horrible driver matching. I don't know if its obvious in listening - but the new open Shure headphones took a ton of flak for bad measurements.

I got a chart. It shows a difference between drivers, pretty pronounced in the highs. I tested this difference with my ears, and it doesn't actually exist. I can hear differences of 0.5 dB (and am not at all exceptional, in that respect), so I believe that something in the order of a 10-dB difference would be quite obvious.
I'd love to have a perfect chart. And guess what? Audio companies know that. Fact is, though, that measuring custom earphones accurately is very hard. Much harder than to measure universal IEMs, especially those with a simple shape (e.g. ER4).

Good work.
Heir Audio makes fine products. I have no doubt there will be growing pains here and there, but I don't doubt Dr. Moulton's standards one bit.

Thats reassuring to hear then. I suppose they may have issues measuring properly - that might account for the anomalies.

Why, building a time machine to go two weeks into the future when I'll receive my AS-1b, of course!
It's supposed to ship out on the 17th...I'll burn it in over a few days and then settle in for a good listen and neurotic a/b'ing. Good times.
