Could someone give me some help with this, please?

Hello all :)

I've got a problem with my headphones, they're USB connected, and intended for use with an Xbox 360.

However, I've pretty much given up on the Xbox 360 scene, and moved entirely to PC.

I'm attempting to connect this headset to the computer, to make use of the mic (and the excellent stereo headset capability), but it's just not working.

It's a Plantronics Gamecom X40 headset.

It has 4 cords;

1 x USB connector cord

2 x RCAA cords

1 x Headset to controller cord

Am I missing something really obvious here?

Do I need specific drivers, or is this just not designed for PC, and thus won't work?

I do have a set of PC headphones, and they're find listening-wise, but the mic on them decided to stop working a few days ago.

I obviously want to avoid any extra costs in getting the mic repaired, or buying a new set, and I also don't want to make my $60 gaming headset obsolete.

I hope that's enough information for someone to give me a hand with this.

Cheers.

  From something I just read I think it uses the RCA plugs to get sound from anything with stereo rca connectors and the usb is used to power it Although I don't know if you need power to make it work as a headphone attached to the RCA outputs of something.  Though you won't probably be able to get the microphone to work on anything but 360. Other than that I know nothing.

You might be able to get it to work, but it would be an ugly mess of cables.  You could plug a 3.5mm male to dual RCA female into your computer's HP jack, then plug the dual RCA males on the plantronic into the female RCAs.  Then for the mic you would need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter - but It's possible it wouldn't work as the xbox mics have a weird polarity setup usually.  I have no idea what the USB cable is for.
