Heya,
Energetic, bright headphone for dub?
Ultrasone HFI 580
Cheaper:
Panasonic HTF600
Though you sounded like you wanted a Grado at first, but then you said Dub...
Very best,
I've been expecting you
, you seem to help a lot of people here, nice going!
You're definitely right when you say 'bright and energetic'.
What do you think about he Ultrasone PRO-450? It's about half the price of the HFI-580, not that I want to cut corners, but don't mind me asking.
I've read a lot about the Panasonics, I might buy them in the future just to try. I know the're good value, but I think I can do better at a higher price.
And finally, any comment on the Koss PRO DJ100?
EDIT: Is the ULTRASONE 20TH ANNIVERSARY, the same as HFI-580?
EDIT: It's not, it's the same or close to the PRO-450.
EDIT: Read post below me...

koss kcs75 kramer mod
or add a bit more to go for Denon D2000 and end them all!
Thank you for the reply!
Does any of the headphones from my list or any other's compete with the Ultrasone HFI-580 (or PRO-450/650)?
Greetings,
EDIT: @gogators - I think the CAL might be too bassy?
I don't known all headphones from your list, but HFi580 and pro650 20th anni are very good headphone and currently not expensive. HFi580 for fun listening (big bass, forward midrange...), pro650 is a much more balanced headphone, less aggressive sounding, more relaxed over time.
I've done some reading on the Ultrasones, and I'm not really sure the're it.
From what I've heard they can be fairly uncomfortable, and I'll be doing homework/browsing/youtubing with them, so 3+ hours of usage...
Am I right saying that the HFI's have a small soundstage? (especially in comparison with my HD668b)
And last, do they have a lot of bass quantity or impact?
For example the HFI series have more bass, but is it better than the PRO 450 or 650?
It is possible that I'll like the HFI-580, but they don't seem to be close to perfect for me and they are at the top of my budget 130€ (170$).
For example, the PRO-450 is 77€ (100$)...
I would also like to have more options than only Ultrasone?
- Ultrasone ....
- Fisher Audio FA-011 (?)
- Koss PRO DJ100 (?)
Is there anyone that has heard the AIAIAI Tracks and that can recommend a full size headphone?
Greetings,
The Cal! is not really bassy IMO. But I think they're pretty much crap. They feel plastic in a cheap way, like they're going to break anytime soon, but they sound fairly good for the price I paid for them (£39). I wouldn't buy them again if they broke on me, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking for headphones that cost more than £40.
If you think the XB 300 is too bassy, then maybe the HFI 580 might not be the one for you. Plus, it has that weird S-logic thing.
From my understanding, the Shures are a lighter on the bass than i.e. Ultrasones, while still having some of it. I could be wrong, but there's another brand for you to check out.
Have you considered buying speakers?
XB-300 is waaaaay to bassy/muddy, but that might also be because it's a cheap headphone and the quality of the mids/highs is just bad...
About the Shures then, the SRH440 is in my budget together with the SRH550DJ.
The SRH440 seems more popular, I'll do some more reading on it...
The Ultrasone PRO-450 should also have less bass, can anyone comment on the comfort of these?
EDIT: comments on the Fisher and Koss?

No, my room isn't fully closed, both too the room of my brother and the rest of the house...

EDIT: comments on the Fisher and Koss?
I'd probably look into Fischer Audio, but I can't really comment on them or recommend them since I haven't tried them. The Fischer Audio model you brought up, are supposed to be pretty bass heavy (again, from my understanding, not from experience), but the FA-003 (or the Brainwavz HM5) might do the trick for you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you weren't really looking for bass monsters, yet you want some bass, right?
The Koss are intriguing, but they seem to scale well with amping (to me it translates to: sound quality is only so-so without proper amping), so there's another cost for you.
About the bass -
I want it to be able to play the Dubstep bass, but not boost it. ---- for example: when I boost the bass in iTunes with my Superlux 668B it takes a while before it can't handle it...
I do like sharp punchy bass, I would like everything to be sharp, crisp and punchy (bass, mids and highs). And to be equal in volume, so no bass that covers up the mids etc...
I'll read some more about the Fishers, the 011 definitely has a lot of bass it seems, but the 003 might have the opposite?
Could the cheaper Fisher models also be possible, or is the overall sound quality just not good enough..
And thanks for helping me out guy's (/girls)!
Greetings,
HTF-600
Denon D2000.
Actually, the Denon D2000 is not a bad suggestion. In my opinion, the bass is really good on it: it is powerful, it has that oomph that is great for dubstep - but it never takes over your music at all. It just is there and is powerful, perfect and if you want it to be, discrete.
If only it could be had for $150.
