Anyone Cryo Treat Their Xonar ST/STX?

Thinking about sending the entire card out to get cryo treated...Anyone treat theirs yet? Feedback?

You can send anything in to get cryo-treated? Where?

(Hmmm...does this mean that if you send them a Stax SR-404, you'll effectively get an Airbow SR-SC1 back? Probably not, but it might give us a good idea if this cryo-treatment is snake oil or not.)

Don't do it. Makes it sound too cold.

You could try a hair blower though. Warms the mids right up.

A cryogenic treatment is the process of treating workpieces to cryogenic temperatures (i.e. below −190 °C (−310 °F))

This will simply destroy all the ICs on the sound card.

@NamelessPFG:  Cryogenics International, Nitrofreeze amongst others...

Didn't destroy my NVIDIA GTX 580 which cost about twice as much as the Xonar ST...

Xonar ST received back from Cryogenics International...Fast turnaround...PCB and plastic housings intact (no visible cracks)...Also sent in a customized SurgeX XS 10 (Leviton 5262 receptacles, internal 10 AWG stranded, shortened power cord terminated with a Wattgate 330i AG) in for cryo treatment...System as a whole sounds excellent with only a one hour on the treated parts, stock opamps through analog out...No issues with S/PDIF coax out...Power cord leading to the AX850 is a factory treated Shunyata Venom 3...Molex connector lead powering the ST was also treated...As soon as we gather a large enough order, sending the AX850 out in its entirety to cryo treat in a few weeks...

WHY? Why cryo treat a perfectly functioning psu?

Want me to dunk your card in some cow urine?  Apparently Indian priests swear by the stuff to purify themselves - surely it will purify your sound quality

I fail to understand what cryo treating electronic components is even supposed to do. I understand the arguments about cryo treating metal pieces used in machinery or cars, but is cryo treating a video card really supposed to improve its performance measurably? Or is it more of a reliability thing?

From that Nitrofreeze place's site

"The cryogenic treatment process uses sub-zero cryogenic temperatures down to –300ºF to modify the micro-structure of the material. Cryo treating promotes additional transformations in metals. Deep cryogenic processing ultimately improves the performance of the metal. The Nitrofreeze Cryogenic Treatment Process will provide you with tougher and more durable parts."

I think I'll stick with my warranty, thanks.

I'll keep that in mind for future reference...

Theories and subjective qualifications regarding perceived improvements abound. All I can attest to is that cryo treating has not appeared (so far) to introduce any negative aspects into my system and that what I have sent out to be treated have all been returned in working condition. Not here to espouse the virtues of cryo treatment, nor am I here to promote psycho acoustic babble. Just letting you guys know that the likelihood of a Xonar ST surviving the cryo process with no visually apparent physical defects and/or degradation in sound quality can be achieved.
