Just bought Ultrasone Pro 900's... But I'm a noob.

I had by Ultrasone 900's delivered today.  I haven't even been listening to them for an hour, but already want some changes done.

I notice that when I push the headphones against my ears ever so slightly, the sound changes dramatically.   With time, do the ear pads wear in a little and sit around my ears better, forming a better seal?

Sorry if this is something that is general knowledge.  I hang out more in the IEM section (and to be honest, I hope I find full size cans more enjoyable)

So, do you guys know what I'm talking about when I say the sound improves when I push them against my ears more?

In other news, I'm really liking these things so far, but am still curious on what they sound like amplified.  I am also curious to see what Denon's sound like (either the 2000's or 5000's).  I think the full-size can bug will bite me more than the IEM bug.  Uh oh.  L3000.gif

Try the extra pads they came with and see if those are any better, if not I wouldn't really worry about it cause yes they will conform better with time.

I understand you completely. Wear your headphones tightly and with regular use, the pads start to compress a little and you get closer to that 'head squeeze' sound signature. It never gets to the same level as you holding the cups to your head but it improves.

Just remember to never, EVER squeeze your headphone cups together again. You'll be chasing the end of the rainbow if you keep that up.

Or you could just get a large rubber band to go around your cans. tongue.gif

Over time you will prefer full size over iem.

I used to be in a similar situation, but nowadays i miss my pro 900's when going gym, they're such a fun can to have around.

I thought they were just extras of the same pads?  I'll give them a shot tonight.

Hahah oops, I just squeezed.  Will pads like J$ help me get closer to the sound and improve isolation?

I usually wear my Sennheiser IE8's to the gym.  I can't imagine wearing full size cans to the gym.

I'd love to sell my JH16's if I start to prefer full size over IEM.
