What's a matched pair of nos ecc35 Adzam/Mullard tubes worth

I'm new to tubes and have read that Mullard ecc35's are the best available. Is Adzam the same tube? What would you pay for it. My tube amp is an LD VI +. Would such an expensive tube be overkill for this amp. Any advice appreciated.

For a nice pair you could pay $300. The Azdam and Mullard ECC35 are the same tubes most likely made at the same factory.

There are different Mullard ECC35 tubes, you might want to check some other threads for more details.

Thanks I'll do that.

Welcome.

If you are patient you can get single ones for as little as $42.

Whatever you decide they are worth every cent.

Also look into the Tung Sol 6SU7GTY.

Much cheaper and very nice too definitely worth considering.

Idid recently get a set of matched Tung Sol 6su7wgt. I'm enjoying them a lot -smooth and detailed to my ear. What set me off now is reading somewhere that it may be cheaper to just go straight to the top rather than spending lots on sideways and slightly up movements. The other thing that's making this expensive is the number of tubes in this balanced amp, and matched pairs and quads seem much rarer and more expensive than the one off tubes do.

Do you mean 6SL7WGT or 6SU7GTY?

Black Glass Round Plates?

The Mullard ECC35 are probably the top of the range, but you'll have to choose between 4 different types of bases and two different types of getters.

That could become very expensive but the end result will be excellent.

eulosone is a good seller, his tubes are as described, his tests reliable.

I have seen them too, nice pair a bit on the expensive side.

They did look expensive-especially as they're half the price of the Amp-but I suppose I'd know that's about as good as that amp gets. Although I could have bought a used Zana Deux for that price.

IMHO for that price i would expect matching date codes and perfect logos.

If you have patience you can get similar testing singles a lot cheaper.

The ZD would also benefit from ECC35!

These tubes are keepers even if you change your amp later on.

I'll have to do a bit of reading before I'm confident enough to buy single tubes.

What do you think is a matched pair?

PS I am trying to help, sorry if I sound offensive!

I suppose tubes that have the same output measurements. But as you mentioned there's more than one type of Mullard ecc35 and I may overlook something without being aware of it. I see all sorts of terminology with which I'm not familiar- platinum, low noise, short base, long base etc.. I just don't feel that confident but I am willing to learn.

Nice to know, we all have to start from somewhere.

You'll enjoy the learning process as much as the tubes.

Here is a thread that might help: http://www.head-fi.org/t/558352/ecc33-ecc35-tube-addicts

Not complete by far, but might give you an idea.
