Glad you can confirm this.  I can only confirm the same finding on the A86x series but have suspected this to be the  case all along.  Did you notice the sound is thinner, less dynamics with harsher presentation on the Euro version?

The dynamics were the first thing that struck me. Even with an amp, the sound just wasn't as good.

So the line out is affected too?  I didn't bother testing the line out way back then...just headphone output.

That what I heard as well.  I feel bad for our Euro friends having to deal with inferior sounding units.

I used the program "Power amp" but then she began to require registration key, I can not enter it into the program because I do not have the rights of "Root"smily_headphones1.gif

Why not just pay for it?

I only had the EU Z not the US/JP version to compare it to but i would agree that is seriously lacked in dynamics compared to my lowly sony smartphone at that moment and the really old A816 i still have.

So, basically, someone sat down on my Z player, and the screen broke down on the inside, and now it barely works, or doesn't work at all.

Which brings me to the question, are there any other DAP worth getting to replace the Z?

Z are discontinued on Spain, F are nowhere to be found, the only place they had A Series close down not so long ago, and I'm left with nothing to play my music on.

That's the difficult part. What I like about the Z is that is very easy to listen to, is not piercing, I could listen for hours straight and never get my ears fatiged.

On the other hand, that smoothness, sometimes made it sound dull and boring. I mainly listen to punk rock, Blink, Green Day, Good Charlotte, but my playlist is made up from anything from Bob Marley to the Bee Gees.

I want a good, clean sounding DAP to pair to my Sennheiser Momentum. Preferably a 32GB one.

Maybe the F. But I dont think the Z is boring in any way. People have found it to be more enjoyable than the F.

On my Japanese "Z" when I turn on the "dynamic normalization" of the sound becomes louder but the "bass" fades a substantial impact on the drum barrel, it occurs at all? Please check the owners of the Japanese " Z"smily_headphones1.gif
