NEW Sony Walkman Z Series mini review!!! - Page 220

There may be a way of connecting a memory card via USB... Apparently there is a way to connect a microphone via an OTG cable to some android devices (which also requires a special app); this very same cable might allow one to connect a memory card reader? Of course there's more uncertainty given the proprietary USB connector... But potentially the Z might be used for more pro recording with a good microphone (I just bought the Samson Go Mic, although it will be some time before I receive it) and be expandable...

Or dump the internal memory, and replace the internal storage with a 32GB one.

EDIT:  That's what I plan on doing at least.

;o)

Interesting, I had the older HTC HD2 windows phone which was better than a Android phone & Iphone put together due to it's versatility to be skinned and even run android on it, shame it had a hardware overheating fault, typical HTC Reliability.  But it sounded very average for music though even using wav files through it and was always dubious with the beats tie in with HTC for the SQ as I have it in my HP Envy laptop, , but maybe I might change my mind after Saturday?

Be taking the trusty ole X for sure well as the Fiio amp....

See you Saturday ; )

If I were to buy this 4gb walkman in the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000VAIMF4/ref=mw_dp_mpd?pd=1&qid=1366932092&sr=8-34 I think it's a nwz-s616f, would I be able to change the internal storage someway? I did it in my ipod 5.5 by adding a cf card. This would be an awesome budget player

Not entirely sure yet, I've done it with all my android devices.  If the storage is soldered on it might be too troublesome, but for $120 I had to give it a shot.  Would be nice to get my 64gb uhs-1 card working in it.

If you find out that its possible please let me know, it would be be nice to save a few hundred dollars instead of buying the overpriced 32 or 64gb models. Also I'm not to sure that every series of walkman is built the same way as far as storage goes. Someone could make a lot of money doing jobs like this for people

Pretty sure they'd get a cease and desist order pretty fast.

It's only a matter of removing the internal storage in place for a new one.  But by the looks of things the storage is soldered on, which would be unfortunate.

Monetizing off of Sony's product line isn't something they take lightly it seems. I recall a guy using their old Walkman tape players as iPod cases getting a cease and desist because he was selling the service. And that was a long discontinued product.

If someone were to offer it up at cost, then I don't think there would be any issues.

Apple is known to make irrational cases when it comes to their products, never heard of Sony lol.

I doubt they can make a case for something like this, otherwise the warranty would not mention anything about 3rd party repair services voiding it lol.  They are acknowledging services by stating they void the warranty, thus legally the do not have much room for a case.

Anyways, if its something that enough people are interested in I'll pry open my Walkman Z.  Otherwise I'd like to keep my Z boxed or at least looking new, the first guy to open his device is usually the one left with the most marks.

I know I'd certainly be interested to see this thing modded.

And I certainly hope that my warnings wouldn't serve as any sort of discouragement for potential modders to try their hands at it.
