NEW Sony Walkman Z Series mini review!!! - Page 197

I never tried this as I always listen to stuff in WAV so never had it on as it obviously is intended for mp3 files, I thought or assumed it would not do anything with lossless as there is nothing missing for it to add to.  If it still does take effect then I can only think it does overkill accentuate those frequencies (not in a good way!)

Might have a dabble later as I thought from memory trying  DSEE years ago with WAV's I heard no differenceconfused_face_2.gif

the only way i see us getting a working root for the ics walkman z is to start donation pool and offer it up at the sony tablet s android development section over at xda for a method to root. i'm pretty sure the walkman z rom is the same as the sony tablet s rom. i think they'd do it for around $50 bucks or less maybe. if everyone gave a little we could probably do it, i don't know.

Sorry for being ignorant but  why do you  need to root it? What advantages would that bring?

mainly to remove bloatware and unwanted running apps i guess... or maybe overclock/downclock/downvoltage the dap haha

A good suggestion there, but are people willing to do that (donate)?

guys is the ICS update for walkman Z any good when playing flac natively????

seriously, im stuck between F and Z for months here.... because of flac!

i wanted the Z for the bigger screen to watch vids....

but is the f screen size (and quality) any good in watching movies?

Well, I am pleased to report that doing a factory reset after upgrading to ICS -as suggested by somebody in the Sony F thread - seems to have cured the buggy walkman app experienced by many after the update. All my 44/16 flacs now play normally without lag and the player is very responsive. biggrin.gif

@zen

u r talking about walkman Z right?

so there is no lag when playing flacs?

Yes the Z. And all the issues I had seem to be fixed so far. The factory reset allows for a clean install of ICS instead of an upgrade.

I have the Japan version 64gb (1070) coming in soon. It was shipped yesterday. Hopefully it will be here next week, if all things go well.L3000.gif

so, Update to ICS 1st then reset to factory mode?

btw, are there any diff with the Z when u upgrade to ICS ?

The butter smooth transitions, eye-candy and a whole new set of features (most importantly flac support).

Update and factory reset, that's right wink.gif

Little differences but ICS  appears to be a more efficient and smoother OS, better apps management, much better browser and native flac support of course. Oh, and Sony Clear phase for the provided headphone but I found it to work very well with my PFE232 so worth a try.

Okay guys. Found a solution (somewhat)  to the flac delay bug.

Go to the apps section, then media players, and then hit the 'clear data' button. Works for me and is wayyy better than doing a factory reset.

P.S. Do update your music database once you do this.
