Senn HD 448 vs KRK KNS 8400 (mainly in terms of comfort)

So I need a pair of closed cans and I've read a gazillion reviews and it's all come down to the Sennheiser HD 448 and the KRK Systems KNS 8400. I'm honestly not too concerned about any differences in sound quality between the two at this point, but the 8400 is probably superior in that department, and it's clear, detailed sound (so I've read) might be perfect for my transcription work. Right now I'm mainly interested in the comfort factor. Since I'll usually have these cans strapped to my head for at least eight hours a day doing transcription work, comfort is a massive factor. I wear glasses and my current Senn HD 280's infamous "vise grip" certainly clamps my glasses to my head in a manner that's not very pleasant after a few hours.

So, to wrap things up, it'd be helpful to hear some thoughts on the comfort of both the 448 and 8400, especially from those who've worn both for extended periods.

My officemate has HD448 and he is amazed by my KNS 8400 when he tried it.

In terms of comfort it is pretty obvious that KNS 8400 is far superior.

What makes the difference is the memory foam pads.

You feels very little pressure when the phones are actually clamping with force similar to regular closed back phones (cuz I can still feel my heartbeat sometimes).

Moreover, it seems like the memory foam cause less sweat on the area surrounding the ear.

I am not ready to comment on the sound since I am still running in it.

But I am very impressed by KNS 8400's comfort.

My problem with the HD-448 is that the pads were much too small. They're not as large as the HD-555/598 pads and they don't give you much room.

The KRK KNS-8400 I could wear all day without any problem. They also don't have a ton of clamping force which is a plus for me.

Possibly the most comfortable closed/portable headphone ever made. I'd say it's even better than a Bose Triport AE1 and the D2000 when it comes to comfort.

BTW you can buy and use the 8400's memory foam pads on the 6400. That's what I do.

Forgot to mention that I wear glasses like you and it's not a problem.

Thanks for your input, guys. I think I'm definitely going with the KNS 8400.  :)

Not yet, if you want the absolute king in comfort, go for the AKG K272HD. The 8400, while resting well on the ears, might put pressure on one small spot on your head to the point of it becoming intolerable. I myself have to adjust them here and then, but never had this problem with the self-adjusting band of the K272. Plus the AKG isolate better and work better with glasses (tried this with my little brother). They are very clear and good across the spectrum, but the 8400 are a bit better at least when it comes to pitch articulation.
