check this out: on display now at LACMA (los angeles county museum of art, or uncle eli broad's cabinet of curiosities) is this vintage speaker, hooked up to play, beneath a selection of classic album covers (one design by saul bass, for instance)

I remember listening to a set of these speakers way back.

Crown and Phase Linear Amps

Thorens turntable.

ADC25,ADC26, Empire 1000ZEX, Empire 999VEX, Shure V15 MK IV, Stanton 681EEE cartridges.

I think we've progressed since those days....

Very nice, and it sure does belong in a museum! When these things are for sale, they go for $14-22,000!

I owned one of those in college.  Great rock and roll speaker.

All horn, and very efficient. A pair of vintage K-horns is still

more fun.

They were a great speaker for their time.

They had the same speakers in the Sovereign S8R boxes.

There was also the Metregon which was the Paragon's predecessor.

metragon was a 2 way, paragon was a 3 way.

I've seen these in a second-hand hi-fi store in Japan. Had NFI what they were. Pretty weird stuff does turn up from time-to-time.

I remember the JBL Paragon being around in 1970 when I bought my JBL 101s. At the time it cost $2,500 and it was rumored that Frank Sinatra had two, one each for left and right stereo channels.
