I've been trying to find solid views on how the Mackie headphone amp works on full-size headphones like my HD650s, with no luck so far. The Mackie's are built for hi-end studio audio applications, so I think the amp that powers the headphone output should compare quite well to all these cheap-ish portable amps I keep reading about here on Headfi. Has anyone out there actually had the chance of a 1:1 comparison though? I'd be particularly interested to hear how it compares to portables, but I'd like to hear views from anyone who has listened through the VLZ, particularly on HD650s.
My Genelec 8040s sound epic through this mixer, but they are active monitor speakers, so it tells me nothing about the headphone amp side of the mixer output....
I'm new on here by the way, so please be kind if this is posted in the wrong place or something...I know these won't be as good as woo audio or anything like that, but I wondered....
