Hey guys, so I just recently purchased the HFI-580s, and as they are wonderful headphones I do have a return policy, the the S-Technology is a bit....weird. I was wondering if I should wait around and try to pick up a deal on the Denon AHD2000s, or maybe go with one of the Sony XBs with a new amp. What do you think?

Wasn't sure what to expect out of the box because of all the mixed reviews. By mixed you would see 9 that love and totally swear by Ultrasone but then there was always one troll hating on em and...

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

A bit curious...should I keep the 580s?

Wait on a deal (used resale) of a D2000.
Get a Panasonic HTF600 to hold you over.
Very best,

Agree with above. I have quite a few headphones and IEM's and I keep reaching for the 2k's.

S-Logic can take some getting used to because it does sound different than other headphones. Some people have a harder time adapting than others, but I'd say give them some more listening time before you pass final judgment.

If you can afford the Denon D2000, go for it. You could use the HFI 580 for portable devices like I do with my M50. Who knows, maybe you do get used to them and start liking the s-logic.

Just as a note, the Ultrasones take a little getting used to even just model to model. After being used to the HFI-780, after I first got my Pro 900s the soundstage was substantially larger and threw me for a loop at first, as the sound seemed too indirect. But after getting accustomed to the difference now I A/B them and definitely prefer the 900s. So the adjustment period may be even larger going from another company to Ultrasone.
