that whole thing just...scientifically so aweful, so so aweful. I can't even make words to describe it.

 

 

 

Although I must admit, I do have to wonder how paint vs stain affects the sound of a guitar. A coating on the outside of a resonating body would actually dampen it's vibrations, so it could theoretically alter the sound

Since I own one of his products (the DAC) I thought I´d just chip in. He has very strong opinions about things on his website and I don´t know anything about his oils and so on but when I was looking for a better sounding player a few years ago it had got very good feedback on forums and a few reviews so people seem to have liked the result. I bought it unheard - which seems to be the case with DACs a lot of the time - since I reckoned he couldn´t have written them all himself. At the time I hadn´t heard of computer audio and I can´t remember seeing the variety of DACs there is today so choices were probably more limited. To my ears it sounds nice, a natural matter-of-fact kind of presentation, but I have no idea how it compares to the other stuff out there, and I also use a power supply since I´m not that keen on having a car battery in the living room.
