Hey all,
First post here. I’ve read through many threads (on this forum and others) and reviews recommending just about every portable amp under 200 bucks and I haven’t found anything to conclusively provide a solution for my needs. I currently have a pair of Shure earphones and a pair of Sennheiser HD570’s. I’m not sure what the model number of the Shure earphones is, but they are on the lower end of the product line. They cost about $120. I use those the most, almost every day at work. The source I use with both the earphones and the headphones is a 2010 Macbook Pro..
I would like a portable amp that would work best with the Earphones, but also improve the Sennheiser HD570’s. I would prefer to keep the cost less than $150. I’ve looked at the E7, the Ibasso D-Zero, and the Total Bithead, and was about to pull the trigger on the D-Zero. But then I remembered the Cross-feed feature on the Total Bithead. I’ve read that it helps the soundstage/imaging with IEMs. Do you guys have any opinions on this? Does the Bithead crossfeed really help that much with the IEMs?
And then there is the iBasso T5, which is very small and targets the IEM user, but costs more than the others. Is it worth that cost in my situation? If it is then I could pay for it, but if it is only an incremental improvement then I’d rather not.
Thanks guys in advance. I’d appreciate any enlightenment you could offer.
