Hello, all- I am new, and only have a few questions ^_^

Hello everybody, I am a freshman in college! :D

Anywho. I listen with AKG K501 headphones. Favorite music is techno, but aside from techno, I enjoy Apocalyptica, and indie-post-rock.

I own an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card along with a Ming DA headamp.

I have never heard a "True" hi-fi setup before in my life. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. Town is dead socially and technologically.

Anyways, My question is, How would I remove a ground loop [I suspect] from my system? Whenever I use my MingDA for my headphones, I hear static from all parts of the computer. Static is worse [or clearer] whenever I use my sound card. Any advice?

$150 or less option

As long as you have a free USB port

Purchase a Total Bithead from headroom or another source

The noise is not only from poor grounding but from lots of HF noise from various components.  I call these the ill-fated "bleep-bloops" of PC listening.  I especially hear them when I move my mouse.  Using a better DAC eliminates the noise completely.  When I use my Bithead the noises go away.

Thanks for the replies, y'all. The strange thing is that the noise is only present whenever running off my Ming DA. No noise when using my soundcard only.
